  • And transport still needs what...think that through a little more...

The roads for mass transit are the same as they are for individual transit...and they aren't specialized, they're universal. A small car, bike, bus, or semi can all drive on the same road.

A train track can only be used by a train. Sidewalks can only be used by pedestrians and maybe bikers.

A road however -- can be used by all shape and size of transport; including the transport that the last 14% need.

  • 20% of Americans are children under the age of 18 and so don't need to drive....

So the other 66% are driving.

That leaves only 14% of people who refuse to. I'd say that's a pretty good reason to have a car-centric nation.

This isn't Europe where everything is within walking distance of you, and it's infeasible to do such a thing here in America.

  • Show me an example of even an okayish solo made game with ai "art".

  • Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit I see.

  • Then why have neither of the 2 of you linked to anything that shows that people are making sales on this stuff?

Can't just show me someone attempting to sell this shit, show me proof that people are buying it.

  • Tell me you didn't even check the links in good faith, while also telling me you would like to remain ignorant. Good job.

  • I don't think anyone is selling AI art. They're showing off AI art as an example of what their diffusor model can accomplish. The whole goal is literally the last panel. This isn't the pwn that you think it is. I have literally paid Canva because their generator was really amazing for logos, line-art, clean details, and a lack of that general 'fuzz' that shitty models generally output.

  • Digg is excited about "AI" moderation. So, they're gonna be going the route of banning users for wrongthink just as Reddit did. I don't think it's going to be that popular.

  • If that's the case, then why do all security professionals use Signal instead?

  • LLM's are the only public facing ones

They aren't at all. Mixamo uses AI to generate animated skeleton models that follow dance videos. Photoshop has "generative fill", plenty of AI is public facing and used constantly besides LLMs. Many of these things have sped up workflows to a tremendous degree. One of my favorite music programs can use AI in order to replicate certain harmonics for instruments which would have taken me hours by hand before.

  • I really wish people would understand that "AI" isn't just LLMs.

  • Post LITERALLY said they DID NOT do such a thing.

  • This is the part that makes you a bad person no one wants to be around.

Again. Wrong. Plenty of family and friends, and a whole region of my state who come to me for advice on cnc related shit, so you missed the mark there too.

Only people who avoid me are well...people like you, who think you need to "display" how good of a person you are. Most normal people understand humor and aren't perpetually offended. Go touch some grass and meet some people outside for once. The majority of people on Lemmy and Reddit are not what the world would consider 'normal'.

  • Fuck that. Why do I need to be better? I don't give 2 shits about virtue signalling. I don't have to convince the world that I'm a good person, I know my own virtues and I know that I am; so I'm allowed to joke about horrific shit all the fuck I want.

All of this performative outrage from people is silly. You're not a bad person just because you like dark humor or shitposting.

  • So shitposters were shitposting. Don't be bitches and act surprised when people are offended. Own that shit. It was meant to offend, that's what makes it funny. I'll join their discord and shitpost too. Call me a "bad person" all you want. idgaf.

  • We didn't shift cultural perception at all. We may have enacted laws, but the people aren't any more or less receptive than they have been. That will take generations. Only thing that happened is that people hid it. Take a good long look at US politics and tell me that gay people and black people are any more accepted than they were...as half the population looks to tear down the institutions which allowed their equality to happen...

You haven't changed people. Your society hasn't changed what people are. They've only changed what you see from the outside. It's only people like you, who have never had to live in the dregs of society who have this rosey ideal of the world.

Culture comes and goes. Shifts and ebbs and flows. Humanity may take longer to evolve, but that also means that what has evolved is much more stable, and much more rock solid than 'civility' could ever budge. We have higher-order thinking brains, and lower-order feeling brains. The lower-order feeling brain is the one that drives sex, food, hunger, and survival. That tribalistic instinct comes from that lower-order brain, and no amount of education will ever eliminate how it functions. The only way to do that would be eugenics, and the world has decided that is a "bad thing".

  • Me too. Probably agree on most things.

  • I wonder if PCgamer knows what "going viral" actually means...
