Oof, I wouldn't want that in any community, but a community specifically about disinformation is particularly disturbing. I reported this thread to the mods, if it's not removed shortly I guess I'll be reporting it to my instance admins for removal too.
The decisions in the New York and Washington newsrooms to maintain official secrecy is in keeping with longstanding American journalistic traditions — even at a moment of unprecedented mutual hostility between the American president and a legacy media that continues to dominate national security reporting.
Tl;dr: the only thing that's surprising is that they kept this tradition even with Trump's attacks on them. whatever your feelings on the topic this behavior is not our of the ordinary.
Hey everyone, so you just finished setting up the *Arr stack and your dashboards lookin crisp. But you look at your htop and see... unused RAM.

Yes exactly. And I actually believe that artificial intelligence could be a real thing that we might one day describe as a person that makes real art. But everything I see tells me that LLMs are not a path towards that.
I have a feeling most people click the maximum privacy "hide from contacts" option at the start, probably not thinking it through. And that means you wouldn't be able to see them. You can try searching manually as that sometimes seems to find them.
That said, when I asked people who texted me "do you have Signal?" I think about 50% said yes and the other 50% were able to download it without issue.
Yeah, this take isn't really exclusive to AI either, luxury products have always involved the best artists and artisans. Generative AI is just exposing the soullessness that has always existed but was masked by underpaid human artists.
Falls suggests that people don’t seem to believe librarians when they explain that a given record doesn’t exist
This happened to me at my job, someone called in asking about something that didn't exist and never did, and insisted with me that I was mistaken when I said we didn't have it. When I asked where they got their information they said "ChatGPT" and when I suggested GPT was hallucinating they didn't seem to understand the term.
Having that exchange IRL with a real human bring honestly kind of shook me up.
