  • I think they do more checks in the beginning, or if you missed to scan something as the system probably sees you as more or a "risc". I can understand your frustration though

  • I know some stores mix self scanning and self checkout, usually they're in the same exit area, or even at the same terminal

  • You people don't have self scanning? Pick a barcode scanner at the entrance, scan everything when you put it in your bags in the cart, and just pay at the exit and walk out (unless you get a semi-rare random check). One of the favorite features of the store I use is that I fill the shopping list at home in the app (that can be shared with other accounts) and then I see the list in my phone or the store scanner, sorted by the order of sections in the store, so eg. all fruit and vegetables will be next on the list when I get to that section. I also like that you see your total in real time and the scanner reminds you if there's a "3 for 2" or other offers.

  • Especially when you read left to right so the "punchline" should be on the right I think.

  • I think many of them are since chatgpt introduced the "Studio Ghibli" style earlier this year. They are usually these wierd mixes between anime and western cartoon styles, with a warm color tone for some reason

  • Hey neighbor! Sweden too, need a few weeks to find that one sunny summer day

  • Is that a "the pragmatic programmer" reference?

  • She did get her research team after all :)

  • Reminds me of stuff I used to draw for fun as a kid, and not in a bad way at all, it's just fun to look at and discover the details!

  • I tried this on the train while commuting a few times and one time I missed my stop and had to take another train back because I was hyperfocused in the story lol. If I do this I must boost the speed on the audiobook quite a bit so it matches my reading speed, otherwise I get impatient waiting for the audio to catch up. If I listen to only audio I mostly listen to normal speed to not miss stuff though

  • Yes, I feel like this happens when these articles pop up from time to time. Like, it's a good thing a few companies are trying it out successfully, you don't have to falsely make it sound like the whole country switched

  • For many games you can set graphics rendering to for example 1080p but run the whole game in 4k so text, menues and so on are super crisp but the game still runs very light. But maybe it's good advice to never even start because I can't imagine going back to 1080p after using 2k and 4k screens

  • This is no pull request, so no need to judge my abomination of a code base like that!

  • Pihole hasn't made any difference on devices like smart TVs and consoles for years, at least in my experience. It really sucks but they broke me and I bought premium family because we use YouTube a lot on non pc devices and I hate ads so much

  • It's more than 50%. In Sweden it goes from 179 SEK to 279 SEK for family - that's almost 56% which is an insane price hike. But hey I'm glad it helps YouTube "improve the service". I would be out if I didn't want my family to be able to watch without ads on several non Android devices and a smart TV..

  • At least icons are easy to customize! I should do a windows 95 theme on my phone

  • It would be great. My guess is, as with many things, it's just more profitable to use the very simple manufacturing process in low cost countries

  • Had it once too. It was a long time ago but definitely one of the best cups I've had. Can probably be described to taste as regular coffee smells, with very little bitterness. Since then I've learned many producers have the animals in cages and don't treat them well, and there are no good ways to source ethically made Kopi Luwak, so I never really felt the need to buy it again.
