  • Finally! I was hoping to see some better haptic feedback systems but this is great too

  • The only surprising thing here is that it took this long. It's not cheap to run servers, and their current business model doesn't seem that profitable. A regular user doesn't care if their AI girlfriend suddenly starts recommending antidepressants and Nuka-Cola products.

  • Well, at least some part of the users are frustrated with ads. What bothers me more is that the majority certainly couldn't care less whether there are ads on their device or not. If they did, Amazon would be forced to do something about it.

  • I'm going to steal some of these words and use them in my future projects, and no one can stop me from doing that

  • It's the same old reason as always. Most users value their convenience more than anything.

  • I just hope there won't be any enshittification phases, just abandon it or remove it from play store if open sourcing it as-is is not possible.

  • Yes they do. And it works for regular user. You just aren't a regular user.

  • I don't understand why ppl do this. Is this malicious? Do they think they are somehow helping?

  • That app sounds horrible

  • I would allow it, it's brilliant. The main learning benefit of cheat sheets comes from writing them, not from using them.

  • This is not enshittification, this is just a corporation trying to protect itself against anything that could cause negative publicity, like all corporations do. I can even see emojis and positive tone to even be wanted features for some. The real problem here is lack of transparency.

I'm still waiting for ChatGPT etc. to start injecting (more or less hidden) ads to chat and product placement to generated images. That is just unavoidable when bean counters realize that servers and training actually costs money.

  • Seems perfect for my next vibe coding project

  • Damn greedy corporations and their shrinkflation

  • I understand that developers don't always have time or interest to fix my problems (specially with FOSS projects), but this just feels like rubbing it in my face. Just close the issue after initial assessment if it looks like a non-fixable and low priority.

"See this is how much we care, we even have a bot to remind you that we are still ignoring you"

  • Well that looks cool. I just hope I would have use for such device.

I wonder how they plan to keep updating this Mechanix OS after initial sales slow down

  • Have you tried firefox containers? It's a bit clunky but it should do just that

  • I actually was going to write something related to this but decided against it in fear of being downvoted and reported to hell. I already blocked all political subreddits and groups but still my feed is full of this american bloodthirst. I just hope I could block all non-european internet for few months.

  • Came here to say this. No one deserves this, not even new programmers who try to learn things.

Some programming tools are really powerful compared to what new users are used to. If you come from the world of Microsoft Office and Apple whatever it's called, everything is saved automatically to cloud and there is some local backup file somewhere which you can just restore. Modern programs are designed to protect users against their own mistakes, and when suddenly that is taken away, it can be a jarring experience.

  • Just mark those as spam if you are using any big email providers. Causes much more headache for them and you don't need to play their find the correct unsubscribe button games
