  • MSFT has a $3T market cap and $60B of free cash flow each year, so I doubt they're hurting for money. This is how "growth at all costs" incentivizes myopic decision-making and doesn't really help foster an environment where studios are willing to take creative risks. Even when they succeed (a la Hi-Fi Rush) they're on the perpetual chopping block.

  • "The layoffs will continue until morale improves"

  • 100%, he delivered on that campaign promise. You can see the direct result in climate investment following the passage of these acts. In addition to protecting millions of acres of public land and strengthening existing regulations. I always find it disingenuous when people say both parties are the same, because one is actually trying to address climate change while the other is accelerating it.

  • $6.4B for HashiCorp on the heels of $4.6B for Apptio and $34B for Red Hat back in 2018. I wonder how long until they expect each of these acquisitions to be accretive?

  • Recently moved over to porkbun after dealing with a couple billing issues with namecheap and not getting the best customer service. Been pretty happy so far.

  • R1T is my dream truck. Hope they make an R2T or something else at a lower price point down the line

  • The 2020 Bolt is also eligible for $4k in tax incentives (assuming the buyer qualifies) which makes it even more compelling on top of the savings from gas, maintenance, etc. Also less moving parts where things could potentially break.

  • Was a fan of the Volt when it first came out, but since buying a Bolt a year ago, I'm a full electric convert. Unless you do a lot of road trips, I think a pure EV would be better for most whose daily drive is usually <100mi (for the 1-2 big trips we do, a rental works better anyway). A big draw for going fully electric was practically no maintenance, zero trips to the gas station, and more cost effective to charge (we have solar). A PHEV still has to contend with some of these.

The other benefits were just icing on the cake, such as one-pedal driving, no noxious emissions, and federal/state incentives (tax credits, carpool lane access, discounted tolls, utilities rebates, etc.)

But I can still see the appeal especially if one doesn't have easy access to a L2 charger.

  • 100%. Seems like phones continually get worse under the guise of "progress". No more headphone jack or removable battery, more bloated software, anti-privacy assistants/AI. Switched to a Sony Xperia for the headphone jack alone and it's been great, I hope they don't follow this AI trend or else I'm out.

  • That would be cool. I use linux as my daily driver, but occasionally switch to windows for certain programs like SketchUp. It would be nice to not have to switch

  • Damn. Season 2 has been crushing it too, especially with all the epic fight scene animations. Hope they figure things out and give the animators better working conditions.

  • That's a great idea. If I recall, there's a similar type of finish in Japanese woodworking called shou sugi ban and it looks stunning.

  • That's a new one to me, I've seen tee bridle joints but not haunched. Did you use a router plane for the tenon part?
