Build roads so people don’t feel like they can go fast without paying attention. People won’t go 70mph on a narrow street alongside a cliff. They’ll gun it down a long straight road.

I wanted this to go to trial so the jury could nullify, but this is a shit timeline.

I’m a broken record on this but the book “Dying of Whiteness” haunts me now.
Seeing who’s playing with bands you like can be an inspiration. That’s how I found Slothrust, years ago.

I think a plain cheese pizza is slightly different than a margherita pizza. It won’t typically have the basil leaves, and the cheese is more uniform.
I’m thinking of like dollar slice pizza. Like these https://secretnyc.co/seamless-dollar-cheese-slice/
But I’m not a pizza-ologist.

Speaking on behalf of a friend, as I prefer toppings: they discovered that a variety of things give them body problems, and it’s easier to just do a plain cheese pie than to try to guess if peppers are going to upset their body today.

The antithesis of a cheese pizza is a pizza with toppings. It’s an idiom, so I wouldn’t recommend thinking too hard on it.

Probably related to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petro-masculinity
Many sad sacks with little else going for them will latch onto stuff like this so they can feel good. It’s easier than actually being good.

I really wanted him to be found not guilty.

That might work, but having just read “Dying of Whiteness” I worry it wouldn’t. There are people who would literally rather die than upset the hierarchy. They know their place in it. They will do their duty.

Conservatives don’t want democracy. They want hierarchy.

Maga folks wouldn’t care if trump used a baby as a shield. Their brains are fermented in in-group loyalty.

The idea of shooting health insurance CEOs dead is heroic. Luigi is the current godwalker of the archetype, to borrow from old rpg Unknown Armies. (Godwalker being the best living representation, subject to the collective beliefs of humanity). It doesn’t really matter if he did it or not. The idea is there.

I posted this in a separate thread, but it’s worth repeating: conservatives believe in hierarchy. Different rules for different people.
They don’t see this as hypocrisy. Pointing out the contradiction won’t work. They are consistent: the good people get good things and everyone else needs to stay in their place. Even when the maga isn’t at the top, they take comfort in being at their appropriate rank. And they get to shit on the people below them.

I remember a video from (I think) the alt right playbook series, where he remarked on how this kind of hierarchy is self similar at different levels. They get stepped on but they also get to step on the people below them. That’s part of why they don’t like things that help people they see as lesser. They need to stay down so they can be stepped on!

Yes.
Unfortunately, conservatives believe in hierarchy. There are different rules for different people and, to them, that’s good, right, and natural.
They don’t see it as a contradiction because to them it is not. Mitch gets time off because he’s special and deserves it.
Without cracking that world view, progress will be very limited.

I thought the velvet underground “run run run” was
Run run run run run take your jacket too
Instead of “take a drag or two”
Good advice when it’s cold out!
I’m still haunted by the realization that conservatives want hierarchy. They want underclasses. Even when they’re not the top! They don’t want free health care because then the wrong sort of people will get it!
They’re bad people! It’s not about “cost” or market efficiency or anything else they say.
