  • U.S. District Judge Charles Simpson’s ruling declared that the actions of Taylor’s boyfriend, who fired a shot at police the night of the raid, were the legal cause of her death, not a bad warrant.

    That's the quote. I didn't lie, I shortened it.

  • Not telling the prisoners their date of execution seems unreasonably cruel, especially considering that some inmates have been subsequently released/exonerated. Their reasoning of "not causing the inmate undue stress" is just incorrect, while the idea that "their victims didn't have prior warning" is steeped in a thirst for revenge and retribution, rather than justice. That's some Code of Hammurabi level thinking that only retards social progress.

  • AP News is basically the only media source I really trust. Their reporting is always factual and with as little bias/editorializing as possible.

  • The stupidity of that decision still amazes me to this day. "Railroad safety and efficacy during the shipping crisis? No! Let the monopolistic railroads regulate themselves, fuck their workers!"

  • current estimates show sea levels rising by 4 meters by 2100 and more if emissions continue to grow.

Ok well, according to this list, we should all make plans on seeing these cities before they're gone forever.

    • 1m Arkhangelsk, Russia
    • 1m Miami, USA
    • 1m Osaka, Japan
    • 2m New Orleans, USA
    • 3m Jakarta, Indonesia
    • 3m Sochi, Russia
    • 4m Hong Kong, China
    • 4m Tripoli, Libya
  • It was actually a well marked/maintained road, the pothole I refer to was more like a sewer manhole with a deep depression. Didn't drive it on the highway, but my mother did, and said she was equally alarmed by how often the steering would "right itself" when she was trying to merge or change lanes.

  • ...

    Jump
  • I used to love playing DOTA 2, and with the new Ringmaster drop I played a few matches, but I'm being driven away by toxic teammates. Despite playing Unranked Turbo matches exclusively, I'll still get people flaming my hero pick, or play style, or pausing for mean spirited reasons. It's seemingly every match now. How has your experience been?

  • Visited my parents while they were in Florida recently. Drove their rental car to the store, it was a newer model with "Lane Assist Technology." It was terrible. Tried to swerve around a pothole, and the steering wheel vibrated and steered me back into it. Same thing happened as I angled the car to enter a roundabout, the damn thing just steered against me! It felt like at any time the car might just "decide" to swerve me into oncoming traffic! I'll never buy a car with that trash masquerading as tech. Absolute garbage feature.

  • Exactly. The main reason behind so many U.S. states not taking advantage of the medicaid expansion was simply "People will like it, and once they get used to it, they won't want to go back." People growing up with safe cycling... will continue to want it. Easier to nip it in the bud before people realize that bicycling is healthy, fun and a great replacement for short car trips!

  • This entire article about AIPAC and their spending, and not once citizens united is mentioned? the 2010 supreme court ruling that is specifically allowing foreign governments to spend money influencing our elections? YES, AIPAC needs to be stopped... by ending citizens united and passing campaign finance reform, which was Bernie Sanders' primary goal in running for president in 2016 and 2020.

This is a "jewish spending group is racist and bad!" article, when it should be "foreign governments influencing our elections is bad!" article

  • yeah, wow, those hands look awful. Looks like he's wearing mom's dish gloves that don't fit right

  • my kingdom for a sub $25k, 420 mile per charge, hatchback EV. Make that, make it dependable, without any subscriptions or fancy electronics that accidentally brick the car out of nowhere, and you'll be able to buy the bank.

  • When the U.S. gives military aid to Israel, the Israeli government is not putting that money in its pocket. The vast majority of the money that the U.S. allocates to Israel each year must be spent on American weapons. That is true, in general, for American military aid to other countries, such as Ukraine.

Those American weapons that Israel purchases are produced in factories across the U.S. So, many American lawmakers have an interest in sustaining that aid because that money ends up flowing into their own states and providing local jobs.

They use taxpayer money to give business to the defense contractors that they've invested in. It's a kickback, to themselves.

  • Because the bank was insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the FDIC "absorbed the $47.1 million loss" after "Hanes’ fraudulent actions caused HTSB to fail and the bank investors to lose $9 million.

his sentence of more than 24 years is 29 months longer than prosecutors had requested, NBC News reported.

Here, the only reason he's seeing jail time. Not because he stole, but he stole from the rich. Tanking a bank and losing poor peoples money won't get you anything. But lose rich peoples money, and you're going down. There are two justice systems in america, and you don't have access to the one that works.

  • “It isn’t crime because it’s the use of violence to create intimidation, to spread fear. That is terror,” he wrote, describing how the campaign had “significantly expanded” in the absence of an adequate police response and with the connivance of some national leaders. The militants had gone from using “cigarette lighters to the weapons of war”, the security chief said, adding that some of those weapons had been provided by the state.

Wow. Leader in the isreali military saying that violent terrorists are using weapons provided by isreal expressly for the purpose.

Remember kids, you only get state sponsored terrorists from terrorist states. isreal is, by its own admission, an apartheid state engaging in terrorism.

Meanwhile, the democratic nominee for president is forced to re-assert that she believes "isreal has a right to defend itself and we will continue to support them with weapons to do so," specifically because the terrorist state peddles its influence over seas via dark money super pac AIPAC. A terrorist state is legally abusing campaign finance laws in order to sway our elections and politicians. Thanks citizens united! Thanks republican supreme court! Now we're ALL sponsoring the ongoing isreal terrorism!

  • keep playin like it's the democrats fault. it's nice when morons self-identify

  • your rhetoric only serves to further de legitimize your position. you're basically a caricature of a useless tankie.

  • yeah I somehow doubt that the people attending the DNC are the same people murdering innocent civilians in Palestine. There is quite a gap between "people not prioritizing pressuring the current administration as to their support of isreal" vs "people actively engaging in genocide."
