  • The U.S. health care system is a failure because of the continued existence of health insurance companies over the more streamlined approach of Medicare for All.

Also this graph is hilarious, albeit depressing.

  • This planet is so beautiful and wonderful. And underneath its waters is an entirely different world, full of wild and majestic creatures just like the Tasselled Wobbegong here. I pray that we act quick enough on our climate initiatives to save these things for the future.

  • I am continually inspired by the wonderful AOC. This is a grand idea!

  • same morons that believed schools were putting out litter boxes for students, and that Haitian immigrants were eating pets. They're hateful, racist, despicable people, who's entire sense of self-worth is built on the idea that because they're white they're better than everyone else.

  • illegitimate scotus members have blood on their hands. Every lawmaker that voted for these despicable measures knew exactly what the outcome would be, and that's why they voted for it.

The Purpose of a system is what it does.

    fucking VOTE.

VOTE LIKE THE LIVES OF EVERY WOMAN IN YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT.

  • this is the first study to consistently map brain changes during pregnancy, write the study authors in their paper.

"It's 2024 and this is the first glimpse we have of this fascinating neurological transition. There is so much about the neurobiology of pregnancy we don't understand yet. It's a biproduct of the fact that biosciences have historically ignored women's health," said Jacobs.

I knew that there were fundamental neurological changes that occurred during pregnancy, but had no idea that there hadn't been a comprehensive brain mapping study done yet. There is a surprising amount of sexism in academia.

  • Since their internal polling had most favoring drumpf, I guess this is a win for their leadership. They saw those polls and were like "yeah, but no."

  • On 5 November 1910,[2][3] on her 14th outbound voyage, carrying a mixed cargo including a number of pianos for Chile, Preussen was at 23:35 rammed by the small British cross-channel steamer Brighton 8 nautical miles (15 km) south of Newhaven.[4] Contrary to regulations, Brighton had tried to cross her bows, underestimating her high speed of 16 knots (30 km/h). Preussen was seriously damaged and lost much of her forward rigging (bowsprit, fore topgallant mast), making it impossible to steer the ship to safety.

Brighton returned to Newhaven to summon aid and the tug Alert was sent to assist Preussen. A November gale thwarted attempts to sail or tug her to safety in Dover Harbour. It was intended to anchor her off Dover, but both anchor chains broke, and Preussen was driven onto rocks at Crab Bay, where she sank as a result of the damage inflicted on her. While crew, cargo and some equipment could be saved from Preussen, with the keel broken she was rendered unsalvageable. She sits in 6 metres (3.3 fathoms) of water at 51°8.02′N 1°22.17′E. The Master of Brighton was found to be responsible for the accident and lost his licence as a result. A few ribs of Preussen can be seen off Crab Bay at low spring tides.

Wow, that captain messed up big time.

  • Almost have to give props to him for being a consistently irredeemable racist piece of shit.

  • It's true, this man has no penis.

  • Calling out racism doesn't make me responsible for said racism. That's a really weird take for you to make.

  • Super interesting, mind boggling concept, measuring atoms to determine your location 😵

  • Care to share a link to the video? A way of mapping the world without GPS sounds interesting

  • bro, what? did you even read the article? they shot him? he didn't get away?

  • wow. the fact that they're finding these chemicals in Placental and Amniotic fluid is nuts

And then the chemicals themselves are just... a list of some very nasty things

I'm reminded of the Propublica article that blew the lid off the fact that 3M's PFAS accumulates in our tissues and causes cancer.

At the time, Johnson said, he didn’t think PFOS caused significant health problems. Still, he told me, “it was obviously bad,” because man-made compounds from household products didn’t belong in the human body. He said that he argued against using fluorochemicals in toothpaste and diapers. (...) “These idiots were already putting it in food packaging,” he said.

  • A great read that makes me want to chuck it all and find a nice long road to nowhere to bicycle/camp down... just need my own Bear to bring along for the ride!

  • What I want to understand is how the cops shot themselves... were they facing each other with the perp in between them?
