Right? They’ve done some good stuff over the years, but that does not eliminate the fact that they have chosen to be part of all the enshitification going on.
Tubular has been working for me (97.5763% of the time) and so has Grayjay (98% of the time).
However, I do agree that we need a more effective way to just watch and enjoy. Unfortunately most creators are not willing to even entertain the idea of moving to a different platform.
What he said. 👏
They are not trying to “replace” cookies. This is effectively adding yet another way to track users. Sure, may not be as invasive as cookies, but this does nothing to remove or modify them either.
Then there’s the fact thay they deployed this behind the scenes and did not mention it until they were called out.
This comment alone:
“As part of this work, we are also committing to being transparent and open about our intent and plans prior to launching tests or features.”
… means they have no intention to be honest about shit.
The Pixel 9 line had GrapheneOS avaliable a couple of days after launch. That’s how fast. You order the phone, and by the time you got it, GrapheneOS was ready to replace Stock Android.
I own my Pixel 8 Pro. No root. GrapheneOS. So, your logic is therefore flawed.
And this is different from Apple. Right? Right?
This comment is a great start for what you’re looking for.
Thanks for sharing. Very useful.
Commendable. Not many people would have made that choice.
I believe that is the case with m.2 across the board. POST takes forever, boot seems to be instant.
Same experience. I really like PopOS, so much so that from my last Alienware I moved to a System76 Gazelle 16. But you’re right, PopOS would just randomly lag for absolutely no reason (not often, but certainly in the worst possible moment). I tried for about a year on and off alternating with Fedora, no I’ve been exclusively (almost, with some distro-hopping here and there) for 2 years, and I’ve never had an issue.
It’s pretty capable of blocking a lot of YouTube and Google bullshit. You could just use it for that.
Everyone should have the choice to delete their content, regardless of the reason, the same way, everyone should have the choice to leave their content as well.
I for one choose to leave my posts and comments, no matter how bright or stupid, and if I’m proven wrong (which happens more than I care to admit) I give the win to whomever countered my comment, and that tends to keep the discussions going and bringing new ideas and points of view. Also, if I believe it may have been offensive (not to be confused with someone else finding anything offensive, that’s their opinion) I have no problem apologizing. I would like to see more people just doing that as I believe it makes for a more open discussion.
Ok, you’re right. I have to agree that it being worthwhile for me doesn’t make it so for others. Can’t disagree with you on that. I’ll down vote myself for not reading your comment with the intent to understand before I replied. And, honestly, thanks for pointing out that I did not really get it, for real.
That’s my point. They learned to remove cancer, and yet, can’t remove them all. I learned to use GnuLinux, to make it work, regardless of distro, yet some things just fail. So, again, what’s your point?
What’s keeping anyone from learning anything other than the desire and effort?
You chose to bring up that ridiculous comparison only to confirm what I said. Ran out of hentai to watch or something? 🤣🤣
That is fucking epic. I had (not anymore) a similar issue with my wife and ads about shoes and coats. So I allowed all the crap on her devices only on Adguard Home.
Then her phone died, I gave her mine with GrapheneOS on it,until she could get a new one. The first 2 weeks were a pain: “where’s the playstore?”, “what is this gayscale chrome (Vanadium)?”, “My banking app keeps crashing”, etc. After a while we started spending more time doing things together, she was spending more time with the kids, and was being way more productive in her business.
Long story short, she kept the phone, I ended up getting a new one, and she even asked me to remove Windows from her computer and set her up with Fedora.
It’s a habit thing, I think.
