  • Heard this floating around in the webs: Hamas wanted a last standoff sort of fight, which would result in a higher death count vs. what was happening for decades, death of Palestine by smaller conflicts.

Crips/bloods and Independent (RFK Jr.) seem to be pushing for more war at the end of the day, so looks like Iran/Yemen and others will join in on the fight. Biden sent US troops closer to the conflict, so once US deaths are seen conflict on the US side will increase.

Heard somewhere that the people in charge of Israel were also helping fund Hamas so as to increase conflict... -Tangent thought: reminded me of Clinton proping up Trump, so as to have an easier win in 2016

For years, Netanyahu propped up Hamas. Now it’s blown up in our faces

  • Seems like some people will learn more on how cars work so as to disable the features...

"Many car manufacturers are selling car owners’ data to advertisers as a revenue boosting tactic, according to earlier reporting by Recorded Future News. Automakers are exponentially increasing the number of sensors they place in their cars every year with little regulation of the practice."

  • Great quote!

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” — C.S. Lewis

  • Everything spys on us, not just tiktok. Yes, steps can be taken to lessen the spying, but in the end of the day we are just self censoring ourselves from other platforms.

Social media is here to stay and the masses use it as a way to get information/entertainment.

Making burner accounts are a thing, share information that goes against the status quo, I think that is admirable.

Only way people are exposed to certain viewpoints is by joining that bubble and going against the narrative.

In the end this gets complicated for various reasons, what do y'all suppose is the best course of action to go against the status quo?

  • edit: fix similarities typo

Awesome to see the similarities between: Newtonian Mechanics and Quantum mechanics

Coulomb's law was essential to the development of the theory of electromagnetism and maybe even its starting point, as it allowed meaningful discussions of the amount of electric charge in a particle.

Here, ke is a constant, q1 and q2 are the quantit>ies of each charge, and the scalar r is the distance between the charges.

Being an inverse-square law, the law is similar to Isaac Newton's inverse-square law of universal gravitation, but gravitational forces always make things attract, while electrostatic forces make charges attract or repel. Also, gravitational forces are much weaker than electrostatic forces. Coulomb's law can be used to derive Gauss's law, and vice versa. In the case of a single point charge at rest, the two laws are equivalent, expressing the same physical law in different ways. The law has been tested extensively, and observations have upheld the law on the scale from 10−16 m to 108 m.

  • Seems to be the next step, if peace talks are not an option for US.

Israel war against Gaza is also taking some US attention from Ukraine, so this will help Ukraine, maybe...

I wonder what Putin will do next if Ukraine becomes more of a deefense state for US.

It does seem like it will be a long war similar to middle east conflicts.

  • Off topic thought I had when I saw this, more on the system being the problem.

This made me think of an interview with Richard Wolff and Lex Fridman.

Richard tries to explain his views on Marxism and Communism, #295.

He mentions problems with academia, and how it is tied to the corporate world.

Around 1:41:00, gov't/academics/corporations are all tied together in keeping the same system going.

To try and get back to topic, it may have to do with the kind of people needed to excel in competitive areas like a university/company/government.

Less on taking care of people and more on competing with each other to be the best...

Reminds me of sports and the fierce environment it produces. Some people adapt and become like them or they feel isolated.

  • Chilton County had 6x the infected amount...

The presence of the virus in Marshall County comes a week after HPAI was confirmed in an upland gamebird farm in Chilton County. All poultry there -- nearly 296,500 birds -- were affected and all will be killed by the end of the week, the department said.

It was not immediately clear if the cases at both farms were connected.

    Source mentioned in article: https://www.al.com/news/huntsville/2023/11/alabama-chicken-farm-quarantined-48000-birds-killed-after-highly-pathogenic-avian-flu-detected.html

Looks like other countries are also dealing with a flu as well, that is recent news. Also pushing for more biosecurity measures and notifications of anomalies.

The outbreak detected in the northwestern state of Sonora killed 15,000 of a flock of 90,000 laying hens, and the remaining birds were slaughtered, the Paris-based WOAH said, citing Mexican authorities.

The ministry also said that the disease had been detected on another farm three kilometers away, which housed 54,000 birds, where disinfection was underway.

Russia, South Africa and parts of Eastern Europe have also reported concentrated outbreaks of the virus in recent months.

It comes after Mexico last year launched a large bird vaccination campaign in high-risk areas, including Sonora, to prevent the spread of H5N1.

Another statement from the Agricultural Ministry last week first announcing the detection of the virus said tests were underway to see if "the vaccine applied last year is effective in confronting the virus that entered in 2023."

Mexico's animal safety agency Senascia has urged local farmers to reinforce biosecurity measures on their farms and to immediately notify of any anomaly observed in their animals in order to protect the national poultry production, WOAH added.

  • I think it is similar to when lanes merge. Better to stay in lane and then do zipper method.

If lane is open, cars will speed up until they reach merged/closed lane...

    What do y'all say?

  • Meanwhile, in Waupun, 30-year-old Tyshun Lemons became the second prisoner to die in custody since the department instituted lockdown conditions in March. DOC spokesman Kevin Hoffman said a medical examiner has yet to determine a cause of death, but attorney Lonnie Story, who has been in contact with the Lemons family, said Lemons died by suicide. The death follows the June suicide of Dean Hoffmann.

In August, more than two dozen inmates incarcerated at Waupun described to Wisconsin Watch and The New York Times squalid conditions inside the prison, including dirty water, limited opportunities for recreation and showers, canceled family visits and a dearth of timely access to medical and mental health care. Men were so desperate for medical care, they said, some have cut themselves or threatened self-harm to be seen by nursing staff.

The department refers to the restrictions not as “lockdowns,” but rather “modified movement,” because officials can adjust the restrictions over time. Some prisoners have been allowed at times to leave their cells for work, appointments or recreation. But experts call lockdown an appropriate term for conditions in Waupun, where prisoners in recent months have been confined to their cells for up to 24 hours each day, going without family visits and regular access to showers and recreation.

The lockdowns come amid a staffing crisis in Wisconsin’s prisons. At Waupun, more than 53% of sergeant and correctional officer positions remain vacant. It’s the shortest-staffed prison in a system averaging a 32% vacancy rate.

“While it is understood that these changes will not be favored, they are necessary at this time given the current staffing shortage,” Buesgen wrote.

  • Haven't thought of small phones in a while, unless you look into dumb phones, like Nokia 3310 reboot.

Great little phone, but does not have smart features that smart phones have.

Nice to see the sizes being compared, I was not expecting it, but wow have phone become huge.

I wonder if Pine64 or similar would create a small phone, they have launched phones before...

  • Thanks!

The picture was shared on other social media sites, I did not see it mentioned in Lemmy or similar.

  • Saw this pic floating around.

  • Similar to all other wars, shitty but numb to human greed, at times.

Best when brought up organically, but steering toward it may also happen.

Teaching/learning and talking to as many people about it IRL, while also trying and failing on the interwebs.

Firefox with exentions or on PC?

I have not seen any of this on my end, my IP does get blocked though, I just change it.

I wonder how they are rolling it out.
