  • I mean, the evidence is right there.

In 2020, 81 million people turned out for Biden. That number decreased to 75 million in 2024.

In 2020, 74 million people turned out for Trump. That number increased to 77 million in 2024.

In 2020, roughly 2.9 million people turned out for a third party candidate. Of these, 1.8m went Libertarian, with 407k for Green. In 2024, 2.9 million turned out for a 3rd party. This time it broke 862k for the Greens, 756k for Junior (I refuse to sully the Kennedy Name with him!), and 650k for the Libertarians.

Explicit evidence that requires a minimum of data science skills to process. 6 million people who voted for Biden didn’t turn out for Harris, while Trump somehow got 3 million more people to vote for him. Meanwhile, support for the Libertarians cratered by 1.2m, and support for the Greens doubled from 407k to 862k. And Junior? He was explicitly in the race to hurt Dems. So, another 756k added to the Dem ‘alternative’ vote, now split between two parties. So, from 1.8m spoiling the Right in 2020 to 1.6m spoiling the Left.

The data is there if you’re willing to look. All 1.6m of those people who voted Green or Junior for some strange reason? They voted for this. Just like the 6 million people who voted for Biden in 2020 and didn’t in 2024, or the unknown number of people, estimated betwen 90m and 100m, who sat home. And of course, the 77 million who voted directly for Trump. Every last one of these people, save the fraction of the 77 million who want what Trump promised, could have had a seat at the table and a voice at trying to drive the monolith that is US policy, but they elected to surrender their agency.

I know you don’t like to hear this, but everyone who made those choices above has surrendered this country to Fascism. And I’m not sorry for calling it out.

  • News flash: Everyone you mention is getting blame.

We’re not absolving the 77 million (to correct your numbers) Trump voters. In fact, this is explicitly called out whenever someone says “This is not what I voted for!” on Team Red. Especially when we say “Oh, no, this is exactly what you voted for, but you voted for it to happen to other people. Suck it up, buttercup!”

And the 100 million non-voters? They are EXACTLY who are being called out by someguy3. I mean, ‘protest-non-voters’ explicitly belong in the group of 100 million who don’t vote.

And don’t forget a lesson everyone old enough to vote should have learned a loong, loong time ago. We don’t always get what we want. When the choices are “Greater Evil” and “Lesser Evil”, which they are all too often, either you vote “Lesser Evil” or accept the consequences of “Greater Evil”. 100 million people said they couldn’t be bothered to choose, and 2 million thought they had a viable alternative beyond “Greater Evil” and “Lesser Evil” and threw their votes away for distraction candidates.

And here we are. Enjoy your Mango Mussolini. That’s the guy you picked with all the ranting you did above, assuming you didn’t swallow your pride and vote Harris in '24. In that case, other people making your argument picked Mango Mussolini for all of us.

  • That’s why I’m not down on Fetterman’s voters. Hell. I won’t be down on them next General if the choice is him or a GQP shill. That’s the thing about people like Susan Collins. At the end of the day, we have no leverage on her. She answers to the GQP, not to us. Fetterman knows he’s leashed by the DNC. He is risking a lot stepping out of line. Committee assignments. Connections. After-Retirement positions. He keeps fucking around, his only play will be switching parties. Once he does that, he’s not a Democrat anymore. Until then, however, he has to to deal with our pressure (and after, well, he’ll have to deal with the GQP’s pressure…and we’ll see how much he’s willing to throw away for power!)

  • I don’t have guilt for the girls who were killed in this. Thought I made it clear in what I typed. They’re dead, or suffering waiting for rescue (I lean towards dead now, given the time that’s elapsed). And that’s not great. Brought on by the adults in their lives who they trusted had their best intentions in mind. I believe it’s clear they never did. It is all about Winning the Political Football Game, and they approach their choices and heroes with about as much introspection and forethought as they do their chosen college or even high school football team. “Me team good! Other team bad! Ungh!” And now dozens of young women, with a potentially bright life ahead of them, are dead. And all to own the libs. What a fucking waste.

Hopefully that makes it clearer what I’m saying.

  • It’s a tempting theory. There are signs that there was skullduggery in the election, and it’s really easy to believe there’s no way Trump could have actually won. But that idea only partially survives scrutiny.

There are several critical factors I’ll point to. Let’s start with the easiest. Right or wrong, an election is a referendum on the incumbent party. The Democrats did several things that enabled the idea that the GQP would somehow be better to take off. They let prices of food, housing, and energy get out of hand without even the tiniest hint of helping those impacted by that. No pushback against the billionaire class. No sense that they cared. Sure, they reduced the cost of college education by the SAVE plan, but they didn’t push back when SAVE got gutted by the GQP, and even if they had, that only helps the people who went to college, and could easily be spun that the Dems only care for their base. Had there been investigations into the big food corpos, with clear communication what they were doing, maybe the GQP couldn’t have successfully hung the high prices on the Dems, and the Dems MIGHT have won on by helping everyone and not just somebody seen as part of their coalition. And the idea that the Dems don’t work for the common people and really only serve the donor class might not take off, either, driving Dem Voters to stay home or vote Third Party.

The second big thing is Biden DID promise a single term and a handover to a new generation of Democrats, but he did NOTHING to actually support this. Harris was supposed to be the front-runner for the 2024 Nomination? She should have been front and centre, Biden’s attack dog, doing the dirty work that Biden couldn’t do thanks to the fact that there are only 24 hours in the day. He should have treated this as a Lame Duck election from the getgo. When people ask where he is, Harris should have said “Biden’s doing the hard work of undoing the mess we were left by the Trump administration, and hardening the country’s systems against a potential repeat in the future.” What she did do was act like a nobody for the first 3 years, then suddenly, appear waiting to take over, with all his baggage and all her baggage. While I did pick her over this mess, a lot of other people didn’t, and here we are.

And finally, something I alluded to in the first point: A total lack of communication. This is a recurring and persistent problem! Biden and the Democrats let the GQP win the memetic war, like Obama did in 2010 and 2016, and like Clinton did in the 90s. Every time they get in office, they let the GQP set the messaging, and then promptly lose important elections, allowing the GQP to styme or even outright undo what the Dems did.

You can’t just ignore the Dems fault in this. The election may well have been stolen, but if the Dems don’t address the above problems, it’ll just keep happening.

  • I know this is in jest, but it’s definitely something the shitheads would push. And my answer goes thusly:

No. The Economy hasn’t done a damn thing for me, and it’s done less for my wife. I’m treading water, unable to afford a house or a car on what was once an unfathomable sum of money when I was younger. It has done less for my wife, who relies on my job to keep a roof over her head. You want us to have kids? Reassure us that our kids will have a better life, and stop vampire-squidding us and sucking down every loose dollar.
