  • Same here. Those who are open to changing and dealing with it and doing the work can go really really far, too.

I wish guys like this weren't stigmatized from admitting they need help, asking for it, and working on themselves.

  • All these kids and their tikkity toks and instant grams

  • Yeah this confuses me to no end. I thought they made America great last election?

  • To be fair it was a millenial (42 year old) who did that. Still horrible. But yeah.

  • Yeah mental illness for sure especially considering the bad behavior like DUIs and possibly the divorce.

It would be nice if we didnt tie our lives to work so much and be got the help needed

  • That is true. Spain and Italy for sure do

I would guess part of it would be tied to the history of the industrial revolution starting jn England and Germany but probably not the whole story

  • Those nerds homo habilis didnt even ingest unnatural molecules hmmpf

  • And East Asians. And Latino cultures. And (fill in non European culture here probably)

  • "You should stop being so quiet" or "joke around with them (the bullies) they are just goofing around"

    Ugh

  • I grew up in Ohio and lived a bit overseas and then jn the south. I got so excited seeing them last summer visiting family.

  • Not really anymore. I mean it cant do backflips but it has been passing tests like will Smith eating soaghetti

  • I didn’t have that but my girlfriend in high school did.

My parents neglected me enough they made those wackos look sort of OK.

    I feel like I've supported a lot of therapists monetarily 😆 🤣

  • I mean to make it easier I guess I would just tell myself I am convinced that Jesus existed. So I believe in him. But not "in Him" capital H.

Or you could imagine yourself cheering Jesus on and hoping he will do well in sports ball for the Jerusalem league. I could see him as a solid basketball player with the magical powers and all.

Nothing wrong with lying there obviously.

  • Leaving in 2010 was a great choice. I feel like I stayed on way too long only getting rid of it in 2020.

  • Well if he were less of a sociopathic asshole we'd all be better off.

And yes wealth at that level corrupted him.

  • If I saw those numbers it would be cancel then shop elsewhere

  • Thanks so much for posting that. I hadn't heard it before and loved it

  • Lol the sapient one is hilarious. Especially when our ancestors probably murdered and bred out of existence other sapient species.

Part of me wonders if that turn you mentioned is our industrial revolution, invention of agriculture, or whatever set us apart from other sapient species.

Some cultures and Indigenous belief systems accept death and the process of not being an immortal to be expected while ironically the Abhramic faiths that have a huge aversion to idolatry tend to want to follow in the steps of their God by living forever and exerting control over all things.

It's fascinating to me to explore this but while I'd love for us to explore the cosmos like Carl Sagan implored us to do, it's also so frustrating we can't get past our initial hangups.

  • It's scary and sad as fuck. We are in for dark days i feel.

I've been doing my best to stay present with my family and know how to protect them first. Next I'll find ways to throw sand in the gears of this shit.

  • Memes @lemmy.ml

    it's that time of year
