  • Federal government won't do anything about it. States control their own elections and therein lies the conundrum. Texas is proving very willingly that it doesn't care about the rules as long as they win.

  • He's just going to have the fed bail them out again with subsidies. The farmers know they won't suffer. That's why they keep backing Trump. The pain they would've felt last time was mitigated by federal bailouts.

  • They accuse all of the other sources of media of being leftist. They reject any narrative that puts their ideology in a bad light. Their politicians have been pushing them away from news sources that they deem "leftist". They've been entirely brainwashed by centralized messaging from a handful of sources yet accuse the left of being the brainwashed ones. It's wild.

  • NYPost is tabloid clickbait. Opportunists. Perhaps the Republican base is aware?

I'm probably wrong. These people are so unpredictable and easily influenced by cult leadership.

  • Exactly the takeaway. They do not value different sources corroborating a set of facts. They prefer a specific narrative. Which has been the feeling we've all had for years as it relates to Republicans. It's very interesting to see it in data.

  • He's pro Trump.

  • Huh? The prostitute is 160 a night?

  • Yes. MAGA can fuck right off. Every single one of them.

  • OP probably a pedo too.

  • Ha! That's funny because I have a department here with some real... Non thinkers who do the same stuff. They'll come in, one monitor doesn't come on. Normal computer stuff. Especially with docking stations. I power cycle the monitor and it comes right on. They swear they did that and that I must just have the magic touch. I even ask them before I walk over whether theyve done that and they are adamant that they did.

I just dont get it. Surely my value in this world is not limited to making sure people get the right authenticator app and pressing monitor power buttons. Smdh.

  • I completely agree. This is infuriating. I have to tell people to NOT download the first one because Google allows the first result to be a fakeware ad. I've stopped many people from getting the wrong app.

  • With what you are able to do, you could work in IT.

  • The average person can't even download the right authenticator app when prompted. The average person can't type their password the same way two times in a password change field. The average person does not know how to plug monitors and peripherals into a docking station.

Whatever you think the average skill level is? It's lower than that. By a lot.

  • UK politicians are among the worst. The US certainly has some trash but holy shit are there some real creatures in Parliament.

  • This type of stuff is extremely concerning to me. My ability to get life saving medical treatment is based on the whimsy of some superficial judgment some random doctor makes about me? There is no way this can be legal.

  • Obsessed with the hair sniffing bullshit but is fine with Trump being the wingman of one of the planets most prolific pedophiles.

  • And our nitpicking and low approval of the Democrats is now a key talking point for Republicans. I may be ignorant but I'm not seeing changes in leadership which is why the approval rating is low. We want something locked and loaded and with sure footing by the midterms so that, at minimum, messaging is on point. But so far they haven't done anything to appeal to people and actually create a platform that energizes people. They need a leftist issue that makes people as irrationally angry as trans girls in high school sports does for MAGAts.

  • Yeah, not listening to this defeatist garbage. The Democratic party has been changed before. It will be changed again. The party is not defined by some monolithic ideology. We need massive electoral reform in the US to ensure elections are actually fair. First past the post is problematic. House and Senate functions are problematic. We need a solution to the two party problem, but until then, our vehicle is the Democratic party. Best to make it do what we want it to rather than just give up because "they're corporatists".

  • I mean, it was built before, it can be built again. But yes, some consequences are just abject realities that we have to deal with. We've lost several trillions in market cap so far simply because of his trade war stunts. He is damaging institutions that Americans depend on. He is ruining our national parks and intends to sell them to the highest bidder. The erosion in trust of our commitments. The damage to scientific progress. The cultural divide as he continues to drive us apart by the day. Yeah, it's bad.

I don't think you're wrong that a Luigi type situation is unlikely to happen. But even Hitler had multiple attempts on his life during his time in power. We can hope. And even if an attempt isn't made, he's being chased by nature, too. He is certainly not in good health and doesn't have much longer. He may be unable to finish his term, although he'd have to be in a coma for that to happen.
