  • What do you use a camera for? If it’s only for scanning QR codes or whatever, fine. But if these are the photos that you take as memories of events in your life, why would you be content with them being grainy and low quality? I suppose it’s a question of what you’re used to.

  • It really emphasises the ‘neutrality’ of this ‘article’ when they always write Israel as ‘Israel’

  • Yes, I would prefer a midrange phone with a flagship camera over a flagship phone with a midrange camera.

  • I’ve had some midrange phones for a few days. They’re fine until I take photo and show it on a display that’s larger than a phone screen.

  • Right, and so anyone who wants an actual flagship phone should skip Fairphone because they’re not going to like it. I’m glad we agree.

  • The Drime iOS app does not let you upload anything else than photos from your camera roll. The macOS app demands to control my Mac through accessibility features before I can even log in (which I’m not going to allow when there is no reason to do so) so I have no idea how or if the app works. So at least for my use case Drime is not really an option for now.

  • This is supposed to be a place for people to learn about self hosting, not for experts to joke about poor practices that real people actually have. Use /s for clarity.

  • Unless said software has any components that may be network-accessible in which case make sure the software is up to date (although you should also make sure you trust the source)

  • Where is this a thing

  • Here 25.8 means August 2025. The number after month would be the minor release with fixes (e.g. 25.8.1)

  • I don’t think that’s exactly true. Only InkPad X Pro, InkPad EO and Color Note are on Android, but I think all other readers are Linux (non-android). On the other hand, some services only work with iOS or android (for example the Finnish e-library) so this may also be good to keep in mind (I had no idea pocketbook even have android versions until now).

  • Ok, so what are the other options? The entry level Mac mini has three Thunderbolt plus two other usb-c ports and some other stuff. I fail to see how phones are relevant.

  • The holy horse of Imam Husayn

  • I got a popover with a choice of country and language so I figured the front page works, but that’s a good additional link

  • Mysoda is Finnish. I have used their Woody for years and it works fine. https://mysoda.eu/

  • I will keep that in mind!

  • I have no experience of actual HdHomerun devices, but I tried emulating HDHomerun with tvheadend and antennas when I was setting up. I didn’t get that to work with Plex, so I’m not sure that would work with jellyfin either. It wouldn’t make sense to buy new equipment since Plex works fine with what I already own (and I generally avoid buying USA products)

  • I’m running Plex with the Xbox One Digital TV Tuner for live TV channels. Would that work with Jellyfin now? When I set this system up, Plex was the only thing that I got to work.
