  • Because checking a bag became a premium feature you have to pay for. So now they’re trying to be first/early to compete for the overhead bag space, which there’s not enough of for everyone. A lot of people have anxiety about traveling and it’s not just the fear of heights or dwelling on the dangers of flying, a lot of it is based on the loss of control of their lives for those few hours. The sooner you’re in your seat with your carryon above your head, the sooner you’re back in control and can relax a little.

  • Only one comment barely touched on it, but the price of gas is a huge factor. 2 years ago, gas prices were generally higher and very unstable. This drove the demand for EVs up. Because of supply chain issues, no one could make any cars fast enough. This scarcity combined with the gas prices drive demand while restricting supply.

    Come to today and you have the gas prices being stabilized in the US by tapping into the strategic reserve. Once the election cycle is over expect that to stop and gas prices will again rise and become unstable again. EV demand will jump, so we should see the used market adjust accordingly. If you want to go with a used EV in the next couple years, now till November is the time.

  • It’s easy to confuse high compression JPEG artifacts with AI fuckery. IMO, if it was AI the lines would be cleaner and there would be other screwed up hands.

  • Look into Telo trucks. Modern, electric, safe, small. I know they haven’t launched yet, but i have high hopes they get everyone rethinking their pickup choices.

  • They are programmed as cheaply as possible and manufactures don’t care once you buy a product so it’s just a matter of time before it becomes part of someone’s botnet, using your power and internet to harass some server somewhere.

  • The MachE is the same size as the bolt and it’s rather affordable on the used market. It doesn’t feel like an SUV to drive and barely looks like one. If you don’t like the look, then you don’t like the look, but that doesn’t mean that American manufacturers “aren’t producing shit” it’s that they aren’t producing anything that fits your aesthetic. They will, because they will have to if they want to keep selling cars in California. Just going to take time to get more styles out there.

  • GM has the Bolt, and now the Silverado, Ford has the MachE and the Lightning, Dodge is catching up, mostly with Jeep of all brands.

    The Jeep wrangler PHEV is the top selling hybrid. The bolt and MachE are pretty great and can be found on the used market with decent miles for an affordable amount. The Lightning is a fantastic truck, better in almost every way that matters than the cyber truck. The Silverado EV is just launching but seems very capable.

    Ford is the number 2 EV seller behind Tesla. If you think American manufacturer aren’t producing shit, you’re just not looking.

  • That would be weird since the company is based in the US.

  • I think Telo is on the right track, I think they’ll blow away the current ETrucks if/when they make it to market. Specifically in the trades since they’re more affordable and configurable. I could actually see someone buying a fleet of these even over the F150 lightning pro.

  • I mean, they’re called a tree, but they’re an overgrown cactus. They don’t get very big and don’t have near the carbon capture something like a pine does. But there are plenty of areas of just scrub brush better suited for this project.

  • Umm maybe it’s stubbornly popular because devices running it can’t be updated. My OG surface book (a Microsoft flagship device for awhile) is great hardware, but can’t update to 11. My gaming laptop is even better hardware but doesn’t meet the win11 requirements. Because they are sealed devices. I literally couldn’t if I wanted to.

  • Kind of love and hate that their website doesn’t explicitly say what it does. Like, if you can’t figure it out, you probably shouldn’t do it, even their GitHub is a bit dodgy on what the software is for, you can figure it out, but it’s never explicitly stated what it’s specifically meant for. “We help you install old versions of the app who must not be named” kinda bullshit.

  • Sure, but I have no idea what prices to expect in Chile, airport or otherwise. Just trying to extract some info by the author’s choice of wording.

  • Does he want to take a budget option away? At one point he says “And they still charge $12” to me that says that’s close to what proper wired earbuds should cost. People are getting screwed buying something that should have higher sound quality and getting the cheapest Bluetooth quality instead.

  • How many Earths, including moons, can you put in the same orbit around the sun without affecting each other?

  • Don’t we all just love it when someone watches us play a game and constantly comes in with tips? Now we can get that experience even when we’re alone!

  • I think the problem for Ford is that they bet on economic improvements that didn’t manifest. Both their current EVs are “premium” models, and that market is tapped, especially with new car loans costing 8%, and people can’t afford housing and groceries and a car payment.

    Lightly used MachEs sell well at $25k. Which tells you that there is a price point for a new Focus electric. F150s are work trucks, not status vehicles, so more XL trims and fewer platinums, or better yet electric mavericks and rangers.

    They should make a Lincoln MK Lightning if they want the truck to stay premium, but aim Fords to the working class like always and price them accordingly.
