  • Yeah, it's irrelevant unless you want to cosplay tacticool. Maybe useful if you're like hunting coyotes close range or something, but even then a separate flashlight is probably easier.

Still, I'd say in terms of usefulness as a handgun attachment, it goes laser then flashlight, then like, hot dog holser, then everything else.

  • gun mounted flashlight is for doing exactly that. Using a gun as a flashlight seems really dangerous

It's not really meant to be used as a flashlight as much as a way to distract/blind whatever is coming at you. A separate flashlight is better for actual flashlight related activities

  • America reacts to aftermath and that's really it

  • You can absolutely Smurf while discussing things with people who are starting the conversation. Keeping the casual inflection going and not devolving into fact rants makes people eat more receptive.

Also knowing keywords and dropping them in a way that makes people look then up is a good way to have them start building knowledge on their own if they want.

Or you can just start making confident predictions about things and when they come true, explaining to people how you managed to predict that.

  • FOX puts pretty girls on screen because their male audience wants to fuck them. Well, their male audience and the owners of the network.

Joining FOX is just a more degrading version of going into porn

  • I'm getting White Reaper, Does it Again vibes

  • They use a lot of subsurface scattering on them which can cause that

  • Heuristic algorithms and Markov Chains are older than dirt. Some of the first industrial software ever written is 'AI' by that measure.

LLMs are a very specific application of that algorithm to processing large quantities of text and that's it.

  • The average American voter is the just that guy from TikTok putting everything in the square hole, so I'm just impressed someone can actually solve the puzzle.

  • Hate to break it to you, but since Roger Waters is BDS, that means the 2 most popular band t-shirts in history are both anti-semitic

  • GPLv3 only for my code. MIT and Apache AR for chumps.

  • Lmao I thought the same thing first

  • Yeah, the employees are the ones setting goals and steering the project while a large amount of the development work is done by outside contributors. This grant would basically just get them the funding to properly organize a push.

  • I know the exact feeling. I'm a solo dev at my company and frequently feel like I'm the only one who knows what's going on since everyone else just uses my code.

I've had other devs pop in and out over the years and it's always a nightmare staying organized when they get pressure from management to do something and end up breaking a whole subsystem just to hit a deadline (not their fault).

That being said, I've seen how PSF handles appointments of core devs and it's really hard to get in. You have to do years of work with the team before you're even considered and probably maintain a large PyPi package or help maintain one of the standard library packages. The discourse is full of people who have super detailed knowledge of very specific parts of the Python language.

  • My decision to use Python for everything remains valid

Still insane that open source orgs that maintain critical supply chain infrastructure operate on such tight budgets...

  • From Tubthumping I believe

  • I wonder if anyone has ever had to pay royalties...

  • No, he didn't want to build AI Jesus. He wanted to build the perfect operating system based on plans he received from God.
