  • Most of it is all tied up together, and they have no ability or desire to look inward to parse those desires out. So they externalize and project everything outward making it our problem.

It's also why Grindr pops off every time a conservative rally is in a town. They hate the gays+theys, and also want to fuck them. Same same for powerful women.

  • Bees and butterflies don't pollinate all by themselves, FYI. Things that bite/sting also do a lot of pollination work! Flies, wasps, etc

  • Millennials, anecdotally, do get really mad at you if you bring up being part of the Zillenial cusp. I had a whole group of them freak out on me for it once and insist that no, I was a millennial only. It was weird.

  • I totally understand that! I have pretty small hands, so it doesn't frustrate me as much as maybe someone with bigger fingers. Cross stitching is super fun, definitely! I've got a whole set-up up in the ol' hobby graveyard closet lol

  • For me it's gotta be a documentary that's interesting but not toooooo interesting, you know? Something with a bit of intrigue to get my attention while I'm watching it, but my interest isn't high enough to keep me awake watching it.

Ancient history, history of languages, paleontology, true crime, fromsoftware lore videos, that kind of stuff will do it. Or, randomly, TomatoGaming vod streams will do it? He's not soothing at all, but it conks me right out, I don't get it.

  • Yes, very true! I almost added that when writing my comment, but didn't want to blather on too long in a comment about a meme haha

  • I mean, the ability to run long distances without tiring is kind of what makes humans an apex predator. We can out-endurance just about every other creature. Most ancient human hunting techniques involved just wounding an animal, and then literally chasing it until it got too tired to keep going.

Wolves are very similar, which is what made us such natural hunting companions. The co-evolution of humans and dogs is an extremely interesting rabbit hole, if anyone is looking for one.

All that to say, the wolf would understand the need to run more than just about any other animal. A bear would work better here. A wolf would just see us running and think 'game recognizes game', just like they already did eons ago :3

  • That made me chuckle, thanks for posting it. Kinda reminds me of a joke-phrase in American English that goes "If a frog had wings it wouldn't bump its ass when it hopped."

  • How do you mean? Dinosaurs? They were warmblooded, so no, not just lizards. Usually in the rock around the fossilized bones are imprints of other features of the animal, like skin texture or the presence of feathers.

We can also tell a lot from the points where muscles attach to the bones.

That's not even accounting for the behavior we can interpret based on fossilized footprints! We're actually learning that T-Rex were pretty good parents for instance.

It's a very complex field, and it's amazing how much we can learn from so few clues.

  • Right, and that's why most people would believe this meme and take it as 100% truthful. The meme doesn't specify that that's the way we USED to do it, it says that's how it would be done

  • Yes indeed

  • Was this the fish passing after a few minutes, hours, days? If you remember at all. Was there any controlling for gill damage during the catch? I know some idiots who will hold them up by the gills for pictures, I wonder if that causes damage? Or just dying from shock? I wonder if I can find the study

  • So tired of this meme, especially in a science themed sub. It's just wrong and thusly promotes disinformation because it takes seconds to read a meme like this and move on without question. Meanwhile it takes (comparitavely) ages to actually research how fossils are reconstructed. If people even think to research it in the first place, because, hey, it's in a science-based sub, right??

Remember kids, the best memes are those based on truth 😎

  • Do you know that the KKK would disperse & never come back when would-be victims armed themselves and shot at them? A big element in the civil rights movement was vets coming back from the world wars with combat experience and firing back on their oppressors. Those are stories that get lost in the pEaCefUL pRoTeST propaganda, but arming up and defending their communities was a huge piece of the black civil liberties movement.

Anyway, point is, turns out people who hide behind masks to commit terroristic acts are truly, deeply chickenshit. I'm willing to bet ICE would do the exact same thing as the KKK if fired back upon.

  • Continuing the thread to say: consider making shrubs from it, too! Basically sugar on fruit for a few days to draw out the juices, then mash it through a strainer, mix in vinegar, let sit for a couple of weeks and voila. So refreshing mixed with soda water and simple syrup. You can get as fancy with the recipes as you want. They're very cool to do research on!

  • So we had this problem, and a plate/shallow saucer filled with beer placed in the bed with the strawberries will help. Slugs/snails will go for the beer instead of the strawberries and consequently get drunk and drown.

  • (Except that's not how paleo art works anymore)

I know it's a meme, but when this is posted without clarification, it spreads to people who think it's real and they regurgitate it as fact

  • If you don't think the same of a vulva, then you're only outing yourself as having incredibly little imagination/experience with them. CIA couldn't have gotten that out of me, honestly.
