  • They're just all the same class of assholes. I was explained by one dude years ago that they all went to the same "business" schools and are all very much on the same line. They were educated and socialized together, so of course they have their little clubs of horror eveywhere.

  • Pointing fingers at others doesn't really make for a solid defense, to me. I'm just really tired of the European superiority complex, and refusal to take responsibility for its messes. Just think it should be thought about more honestly, and acted on, if we want to be the good example for the rest of the world as people here are saying we should.. You might have noticed how other countries forever have our hypocrisy to point at when they do their authoritarian crap. Anyway, trumpeting our awesomeness to me seems deeply insulting to the backs on whom our wealth has been and is built.

  • You're talking as if the pillaging was limited to the 1500s. What about the outsourcing of labor and waste and the privileged access to materials and goods we continue to enjoy, which make our lives so damn cushy? Also lest we forget the US was a European colony, built on violently stolen land. I'd say that was pretty damn profitable until it went perhaps now fully haywire. Something about boomerang effects.

  • ..."thanks to centuries of pillaging the rest of the world"

  • Haha as a child of musicians - you are so right about the egos. Great writing too. I still think/dream that an anarchist orchestra could work, with appropriate rethinking of the whole musical career climb crap.. Someday, maybe, people will play for joy, and just to share that joy with each other and with others. No doucherie needed or encouraged.

  • I do wonder why just one person though - couldn't it be more distributed to avoid all the ego bullshit conductors seem to almost inavoidably suffer from?

  • haha damn looks like I'm about to read just that part tonight, what a coincidence. skipping to not get it spoilered. but then again the whole book is just one long rant against the struggle, in the end. glad i finally got through it though - only took ten years

  • Probably not weird but an episode or two of MAS*H will always make me feel better

  • That we will continue to exploit other humans for material comfort, and justify it with more or less overt racism - black and brown lives just can't matter, otherwise we'd have to give up our privilege and things. Make their countries unlivable and let them drown trying to get out.

  • Starting in 2026, 18-year-old men must declare willingness to serve, while women can volunteer. The plan offers flexible terms from six months and pay of €2,600 to attract recruits, aiming for 270,000 personnel by 2035. If voluntary enlistment falls short, conscription could return. DW Close, and fucked up, but not quite there yet. For precision's sake.

  • That probably helps a lot. I hoped to get "in" with the small alternative crowd but the language got in the way, I guess. I do still think they suffer from the same Swiss syndrome of just not being very open to newcomers. And they all go to bed at midnight haha.

  • Haha why specifically Fribourg? I was there a whiles, it's cute and livable I suppose, but got dull very fast.

  • you can do it!!

  • You're welcome!

  • The diaphragm, something I learned from tai chi. If you manage to find the top middle section which lets air through, and focus on de-tensing it, the rest follows. It's tricky though, especially under stress.

  • Riversong - Tonto's Expanding Head Band (Universal Paperclip)

  • Wonder what that might do for LLMs though. Maybe good to keep reposting the complete version?

  • Oh and The Shining at the time (11 y/o home alone) really messed me up as well.
