Ours are still the IR strobe variety. Our state use the Opticom system. There’s a little white light and a receiver over each traffic light. When it detects an emergency vehicle, all the lights turn red and the direction the emergency vehicle is going turns green. Simultaneously, all the white lights blink except on the light that turns green — it stays solid to let people know the approaching vehicle is behind them.
If you haven’t watched this beauty, please do. It’s hilariously accurate on Minnesotan communication, and I believe many of our Canadian brethren will identify with it. Might even help our chances of getting in.
The more I think about it, instead of the credits, it should first be a bunch of slow mo views of Dude getting popped with the “oooo whatchya say” song à la O.C.
I’m in. I love hockey, politeness, and poutine. I can handle winter and cold. I already know the anthem in English and French, because hockey. And I hate the Leafs.
You have to show ID. It doesn’t have to be a driver’s license. Many states, mine included, issue cards that are solely for identification and that’s it.
Love that it’s them asking for patience and understanding. Apparently they are qualities they themselves do not possess.
Fuck off and die, you goose-stepping fucks. I hope there’s a Nuremberg tribunal after all this where you stand trial and be forced to admit to and pay for all the shit you’ve done and continue to do to the people of this country.
It is funny how 40 in the fall sees most folks bundling up with everything they have, and 40 the spring is shorts and sandals weather.
I don’t stop wearing shorts until it’s about 0F out or the wind is insane. Not to like shovel the driveway or anything being out for extended periods, but going out shopping or whatever is fine. Today was 0 with a -20 windchill and my Costco run was done in shorts, a sweatshirt, and a baseball cap.
I would recommend starting by joining a group around a topic you’re interested in. Local climbing club or anime group or sports enthusiasts or gaming clan or whatever. Something in person. Use that group to practice social skills and learn body cues with topics you’re already familiar and confident with, and that in turn will help you branch out to other topics when you’re ready with the same level of communication.
It is a learned skill, and it takes time, but if you never take the time to learn it, then it will always feel foreign to you. Does that make sense? Like so many things in life, you have to get past the fear to get to the reward. That can be difficult, and you might get hurt when you put yourself out there, but I believe if you keep with it, and you’re determined to make a change, you can absolutely overcome anything and find a social group that complements you.
Good luck, friend. You can do it. We believe in you.
