  • But this isn't really evidence that they are.

So what you meant was: this isn't enough evidence to change my mind. That is a very different statement. I think this doesn't prove anything but it does support op's previous claims Reddit boosts Ars Technica content.

This isn't showing Reddit is shitty, it is showing it is used by it's parent company to influence the media landscape. That is not just shitty, it is amoral and can be very dangerous when it comes to political pieces.

Tech companies are using media companies to shape the world to their liking, just like robber barrons and aristocrats used to.

  • I wonder in what ways he means dependence, because in a lot of ways we are getting less dependent on US but there are a few things we can't do ourselves yet and it will take time to get it done. I hope he is saying we will have to rely on the US to appease Trump, knowing we should move away ASAP instead of him actually believing it. I'm afraid it is the latter.

  • most people in the US were too distracted

Don't worry folks, the 125 party states were not distracted. Can't say if it will have consequences for the US or it's citizens but this is not going unnoticed.

  • The study found middle-aged adults could reverse 20 years of age-related decline in their heart muscles through a 2 year exercise program, and that it effectively turned sedentary 55-year-olds into 30-year-olds when viewed through heart activity monitoring equipment

through a 2 year exercise program

Talking about return on investment wow

  • Proffesionel anoncamints vrry inporrent yes!

  • Sounds like evil inception, first the nightmare of losing your child and then the nightmare of possibly losing your job and house etc. I hope they at least don't have to go through the nightmare of prison (which they would likely have to go through alone, since there is no couples-prison). Evil evil evil

  • Can I just comment on that image because wow, i guess someone thought let's give everything luxurious texture and we can call it a day

  • Interesting it lines up with the new world / old world concept.

  • Voyager on Android doesn't display descriptions of cross-posts, so I'm copying it here for anyone unaware of that:

I started to notice some thing weird while using Reddit, every link post from Condé Nast owned news outlet was getting a high amount of upvotes and awards while other publications had a very normal rate of awards( usually zero, with the exception of the sponsored ones) and upvotes.

That when I started to investigate this matter till I found out about this.

They are boosting their publications on Reddit on the major subreddits. They are trying to give their publications a advantage over all the other news outlets.

They have the ability to kill the other news outlets if they keep doing that. Avoid them as if your freedom is dependent on it.

  • Can't park there mate

  • As a dutchie who follows political news on a daily basis, I can confirm this researchers findings

  • “Trump always chickens out — we’re just bringing the tacos to match,” DNC Chair Ken Martin said in a statement on the food truck’s message.

  • Might be because blatant lies market better than ugly truths

  • Thanks I'm always a bit skeptical when it comes to big news corps framing financial stuff like this exactly because it can mean very different things for different people. And since I'm not a big corpo myself, I wonder whether they are right or not when talking about the effects on my personal life especially when the situation isn't very extreme. Sounds like a small deflation for a short time doesn't have to be a bad thing if you're not in (high) debt, just like small inflation isn't a bad thing even if you have some savings.

  • Problem is unless they become the biggest they will be a second-choice for the big right parties (pvv and vvd). Except for CDA and D66 there isn't a reasonably sized centre party left and they both might remain too small to form a government without at least one of the big right parties (vvd). But who knows, if vvd pvv shrink a lot it will turn the tables.

  • I like how they are the only party you can vote on in all levels of government, including Europe. Even if they only get 1/2/3 seats next election, I don't see them going away any time soon.

  • I've seen this because I like Jon Stewart and this is certainly a nice interview about an important topic. But aside from briefly mentioning big techs influence on Brexit Germany's experience with Fascism and Communism (if Germany is the example for experience with communism you can guess how briefly it was mentioned), this interview is entirely about US companies and their influence on US politics. So even though I can recommend this video to anyone interested in that, I did downvote this post because it doesn't belong in this community imo.
