    In Germany the government and police use the word Quellentelekommunikationsüberwachung (telecommunication source surveillance) when they express their desire to have a Trojan on someone's phone - to protect the children of course.

    So the phenomenon is not unknown outside of NK.

    Decision making motivated by emotions. Quick success, own advantage or the closest pressing issue is always more important than sustainability and the common good. Bad emotions are suppressed and messengers of bad news are chased out of the village.

    And then there are the ones who believe that all is lost and nothing can save us. Like me. Not helpful, I know.

  • Distribution is the key here, which they can pinpoint to your IP. They can’t come after YOU specifically (usually) but they contact your ISP

    Germany:Which in turn hands out your contact data. And Waldorf + Frommer will send you a form for a Unterlassungserklärung, which you are kindly asked to sign. Plus they will kindly ask for a few hundred euros.

    Who then sends you a strongly worded letter about stopping (usually). If this happens repeatedly they will often throttle your bandwidth or even cut you off. Again, usually. This is different everywhere.
