They're desperately looking for some post-neoliberalism that avoids all of its problems, but preserves the parts that benefit them. Unfortunately those are the parts that caused all the problems.
phase out gifted and talented programs for kindergarten students.
They're kindergarteners, I don't think they need to be ranked and categorized by mental talent at that age, maybe wait until they learn multiplication and division before deciding which ones are on the fast track to advanced degrees.
Contrarian take: if the deep state/intelligence/whoever finally decides that Trump is more trouble than he's worth, this would be a good way to get rid of him. If the files were just leaked randomly, sure, not much would come of it, like so many other leaks. But as an organized limited hangout, with a lot of media support, they could selectively bring down Trump and a few other inconvenient people this way, and then consider the issue resolved. I mean if the whole point was blackmail, presumably they've had contingency plans along those lines for a long time.
I actually halfway-agree with this. Politically, this is relatively good for the Dems: Trump and congressional Republicans have taken the blame for the shutdown, taken the blame for unpopular cuts, and the Dems caving at the end won't cost them much. A net benefit for Dems overall. And the electoral timing was also good for them.
The only problem is that PEOPLE ACTUALLY NEED THE FUCKING HEALTH INSURANCE! But like other than that part this is all pretty great I guess, sure, what does the actual material outcome matter compared to a healthy +4% polling bump or whatever.
No, see, they were also harmed by communism because they should have received a much larger inheritance. It's unfair! They deserve a life of idle privilege as an aristocrat, not this hard life of occasional office work for a NED-funded NGO.
Ok but what if instead of all that they just pay gig workers a sub-minimum piece rate to deliver all across the Pacific using their personal vehicles or rental vans. Proven model!
