kagi’s map feature seems to have a bit more detail than the usual osm wrappers but it is a paid service and i still haven’t figured out how to get directions to work (that last part is on me, though).
I went the pixel and graphene route and I’m pretty happy with it. if Google locking out drivers means there won’t be graphene for the next line of pixels, I’ll probably just see what phones calyx or lineage support and roll with something from there.
I’ve been fortunate to not have any issues with banking services. the only big thing I lack is maps. there’s not a one to one replacement for Google maps, so I just use a dedicated GPS in my vehicle. (before folks start typing at me, yes I’m aware of organic maps and etc but they absolutely lack a lot of data, especially in my semi-rural area)

more popular games might be shadow of the colossus, tony hawk pro skater 3, metal gear solid 2, gta, etc. i’m not real into those except the first one but they got good ratings.

hobbsc@lemmy.sdf.orgto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•ISPs seem designed to funnel people to capitalist cloud servicesEnglish52·25 天前is that because asymmetry is the norm due to these ISPs’ practices or because people just don’t upload things often as a common behavior?
i recall a lot of my peers hosting mail and web servers among other things when broadband started to become more common, before they started blocking common ports as “security” and “antivirus” measures designed to extract more money from you.
there are dozens of us!
we lost our local radio station last year as the owner aged out. I’m worried about who will acquire that slice of the spectrum.
there is a college station still in a neighboring town at least.
it’s alive and well. schedules are often posted on hfunderground.com

these “ai bad” posts are getting so tiring. they just feel like upvote farms these days.
grumpy graybeard/neckbeard here but bazzite and bluefin feel like what I wanted out of Linux 25-30 years ago and I’m so glad we’ve reached this point.
hobbsc@lemmy.sdf.orgto Linux@lemmy.ml•Cross-platform video player GrayJay now available as FlatpakEnglish10·28 天前I’ve tried pretty hard to make the switch to grayjay but there’s always some snag for me. Sometimes grayjay related, other times service related. I hope the project continues to grow. for the moment I’ll be sticking with newpipe and freetube.
the other futo projects are pretty neat, too. the android keyboard works really well.
been there for a hot minute! solid little group.
I use Markor Notes on my android device with syncthing to send it all to my PC. It’s a terrific markdown (and general text) editor that doesn’t have much of an opinion about how you organize your files.
