  • O-kay…so you chose this route. Not going to read any of these walls, but to answer your initial point, I was merely alluding that it would be nice to declare the use of LLM tools these days.

    And I too am a leet-full-stack-vibecoder but I rarely publish any of those tools other than for internal company use, always, ALWAYS, declare that the code is likely not fully verified/tested, and never simply say I did it. The apps work in my environment and test scenarios but might not in yours. I have seen how fragile the code/logic can sometimes be, perhaps not in this case, but who knows. And while things are getting better and better by each LLM release, it does not remove the importance of declaring the tools so people know what to expect.

    But of course people tend to publish these with the usual ”look what I made” for some reason… Guess it makes people feel special?

  • Just for heads up, this seems to mess your DNS by default. At least on my Raspberry Pi OS it rewrote /etc/resolv.conf to point to its own DNS which only knew NetBird hostnames, nothing else.

    Fixed this with:

     
        
sudo netbird down
sudo cp -f /etc/resolv.conf.original.netbird /etc/resolv.conf
sudo netbird up --disable-dns

    Also, pings seem to be consistently about double compared to Tailscale between the same hosts.

  • This 100%. I have so many brands in my black list to never consider after happening to get interrupted by their ad, not even neccessarily a dumb ad. Reoccurring ones do that quite effectively too: Seeing an ad once is maybe no biggie (unless it’s long/dumb), twice starts to annoy, three times and you’re out.

  • That’s not the case entirely, at least in my case. When I’m forced to watch ads when using the official YouTube app in one of my smart tvs, I’ve built habit to click mute and grab my phone. There’s usually just right amount of time to fex reply a message. Within the edge of my vision I can still see the timer changing to Next or Skip prompting me to get back to the video. No doubt they will soon make that less obvious…

  • Nope, I would not call 160kbps Vorbis low bitrate, it’s roughly quality of 192kbps MP3. Only the ”popularity=0” stuff (so stuff with so few listens that Spotify does not keep record of) were re-encoded to 75kbps Opus, which as a modern codec is much better than it sounds like but of course re-encode is not great for already lossy stuff.

    For purists there are those Tidal downloader sites available everywhere for free lossless music, even 24-bit hires FLAC.

  • 0-popularity, not 0-streams, which are two different metrics according to the archive blog post. But nevertheless, the re-encoded stuff is stuff pretty much no one will miss. Also Opus at 75kbps is much better than Vorbis or mp3 at that bitrate.
