  • In a similar but different vein I feel the need to callout veilid. https://veilid.com/ It's like tor meets IPFS except no crypto involved. The idea is it's an anonymous network and data storage scheme that's meant to allow developers to make apps which don't require server infrastructure and associated costs. They want functional easy to use apps to have strong privacy protections baked in instead of bolted on after by powerusers.

  • Personally I saw DS9. Obrien in front with manic bashir in back.

  • Really appreciate people calling these out. Community values are an important differentiator for the fediverse. I hope we will stand together for authenticity.

  • Democrat's spines, already known to be weak, now appear to be nothing but jello.

  • Ruled is the wrong word for a medical examiners determination. Makes it sound like a judge, but DHS will make sure this is never before one.

  • Yeah, the fact this would affect my class 1 ebike really pisses me off.

  • Thanks for the info. Living in the US without a car I'm left wondering how much time it takes for me to use my share. I'd wager I haven't passed it yet but I'm not naive enough to think it's much more than a month.

  • Hijacking but I need to get this out of my system:

I was in a bar earlier and went into an all gender single stall restroom. It had a urinal with an absurd amount of pubic hair on the rim. I couldn't shake the idea of women seeing it as one of the few urinals they've run across. No ladies, that is not normal.

  • Digital solidarity will be essential as we move forward. We will need both social solutions which facilitate community technical support and engineered solutions which make that support more effective. I like to imagine systems of distributed sever management where we build upon the computational capacity of those around us and the human capacity of those that care for them. I want to rely on people I love instead of opaque tech firms that only care about money. Compute power must not defeat humanity.

  • It started as fuck spez, but I've learned the value of opposing homogeneity online and I will never go back.

  • Saw a car rear end a bike in a bus+bike only lane hard enough to put him on their hood. Guess somehow the bike wasn't damaged and they decided to just let the driver go. So the driver in the through only bus lane proceeded to turn right across two right turn lanes with limited visibility, followed by another driver turning right from the lane to their left and the two narrowly avoiding a collision. If you're hit by a reckless driver they need to be held accountable so they don't hurt others.

  • Can't have cleared your orbit around the sun if you don't orbit the sun.

  • The number of guys who do this in my local arcade bar really pisses me off. We're all touching the same surfaces in there WASH YOUR DAMN HANDS.

  • Lemmy's refusal to accept AI content will become our greatest strength if we hold to it.

  • Please let this not be AI.

  • Woah woah. Stop right there miss Shortcake. I won't stand for this asparagus slander!

  • I'm actually impressed more people didn't die weightlifting with the things we see in stupid clips.

  • Totally get this. On the other hand, in my city where the streets are wide as shit and crossing signals are timed for only the quickest of walkers-you need every second you can get.
