  • Is it weird to anyone else that Luke was basically a sociopath child, shooting innocent womprats for fun, and that killing plus using the Force is why he hit the exhaust port?

  • Cats and dogs both are shown to have a human language vocabulary of at least 100 words. If you train them to use buttons that say a few words back, you can have a limited conversation, and they will confirm that they understand the song and that their little hearts are filled with love for you, Mr. Can Opener.

  • This administration, and IIRC also within the text of Project 2025, wants to "undo the 20th century." Primarily that's everything that's happened since WWII, but once they get into it, they like the 1880s better because it's when Robber-barons could do anything they wanted, corruption was unchecked, and women couldn't vote.

The anchoring to the 1950's-1960's are because there's a lot of Boomers who remember that time period as (to them) the height of civilization, because most people generally assume that any time period where they were 16-25 is the best anything ever was.

  • Y'all - if you looked at the original "Trillion dollar offer" it's effectively somewhere between impossible and a hallucination. It requires increasing Tesla sales by a factor of 11 and selling 1 million Optimus robots which aren't even commercially available for sale. Even Yale called it stupid.

  • Only 40 minutes a day for Drag Race history? Hardly enough time!

  • Put on my skeleton jammies and start TEARING SHIT UP! Go Team Skeleton!

  • But the AI is enabling a police state and making ultra-wealthy people ultra-super-wealthy! There aren't supposed to be any downsides!

  • I still always see James Gunn and think Tim Gunn first (spouse loved Project Runway, so it was the first Gunn name stuck in my head) and always have a brief moment of thinking things like Tim Gunn in his deep voice saying "It just seems a little costume-y, Bruce. What if you just had a nice satin drape off the shoulder instead?"

  • JFC - for a 7'11" tall mom was a 22 pound baby underweight or something?

  • It was a comment about US school uniforms and if ties are standard vis-a-vis the Chinese scout scarfs. We're comparing 2 things here.

  • Granny is based.

  • I mean, try as we might to blame Zuck or whatever like this is a new problem, it's also a standard with humans that we do love our own toxic self-reinforcing mess sometimes when we get in a groove with it. The Taliban literally fought and won two wars to uphold their brand of misogyny, ignorance, and general illiteracy. Nazis. The Confederacy and all their vestigial holdover racism. The Communist Revolution in China where they just executed academics because math and physics did not support the CCP.

The barriers previously were just access to a wider group of people with one's own brand of mess, and the point of the internet in general was to lower the friction of communication. For any many bronies out there living in Bumblefuck, AL that have finally found their people, there's just as many old forums like Something Awful that still exist that are cursed corners of the internet, and have been since the 90s. They're just the internet version of that shithole bar in your town where it's all methheads and bikers and generally terrible people.

You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the Facts of Life. The Facts of Life.

  • For real?

Has she ever mentioned what the F people were thinking at the time? This seems like a solution that only a 1980's cartoon would have come up with.

  • Probably find ways to buy all the advertising profile data I can, sort through it until I find some related to the fools that voted for that, and give it to spammers.

The people that make these laws often have zero idea how anything works beyond "the lobbyist said do this, so I do this." So they should be educated about their poor decisions.

  • Same. Totally worth the monkey business I feel like I'm doing cutting batter.

  • The greatest joy that money can't replicate is a big potluck dinner at someone's home with friends. No expectations, no food judgment, just a chance to hang out and not be expected to spend $100 at a restaurant you don't like.

  • Amazing opportunity to make some machine that sprays a thick bright yellow layer of plastic on a banana, that you peel off and then peel off the probably greyish-green real peel under that because yarg.

  • Huh. I believe you, just didn't know ties were also part of public school uniforms. Maybe it's an East Coast thing?

  • Legit reason to do Disneyland in a wheelchair and get to go right to the front of the line every time. You and like 2 people with you.

If you can find someone that can get you on to the Magic Castle, that would totally work for you. Maybe ask in magician subreddits? It's all get up, walk somewhere 30 steps away, and sit again. Plus dinner and a show. Amazing place.

If you look at dong a live taping of a TV show, there's usually a LOT of standing in a line for an hour+. They might have some accommodation, but it might vary.

Do NOT do a "stars' homes" tour, it's all made up BS.
