  • We should start a betting pool to see how badly they fuck up trying to force a shut down without having a single well-communicated and widely accepted policy demand, trying to play the cautious middle, and wrapped in 37 layers of "We have to play the political game they hand us to even hope of making small incremental change to the massive steamrolling happening right now."

FFS, demand a $15 minimum wage, legalized weed, and better ACA subsidies. No American not working in the WH will balk at that.

The idiots will wheedle and whine before demanding UBI and national ACA coverage and garner exactly zero support.

  • Strongly held, no, but my strongly held beliefs are a weird set of things informed from personal experience. You could convince me that golf is not a stupid waste of time (maybe it's not) before I'll have any internet stranger convince me that ghosts aren't real.

I'm always willing to admit being wrong when I'm wrong, and of the data don't support me, I'll couch it as tentative or a theory.

  • "Guys, OK so hear me out. All I need is 5% of global GDP. That's it! And thats down from our original estimate of 46% earlier today."

  • In Latin that would be Panisius.

  • In the summer, you put a heavy pinch of sea salt and lemon juice in a glass of sparkling water and it's totally amazing. I was so upset with myself having only tried this at the end of August.

  • Hey Democrats, check it out. When you stand up to fascists, they relent.

    Try it sometime.

Edit: I see your downvote, Chuck Schumer.

  • What company actually checks?

  • The default answer is a custom domain.

I can use 8 different email addresses with the same domain and in a couple hours move my email hosting from one service to another entirely, or do it all myself. The domain is mine, the addresses whatever I want, as long as I just keep the domain mine.

  • OK, fair enough.

  • Easy! Just don't log in! It's all public, so you don't need an account for anything. The loss of up/down voting is offset by the number of comments that will not later be used by the FBI to convict you of thoughtcrime.

  • Yes

  • It is social media, with posts visible to the public.

A great policy is to only post things you wouldn't mind being read out loud in a court room with your whole family present.

  • I used Filetype:mp3 but I've noticed it really doesn't really work anymore.

  • They optimized how optimized it was ;)

  • I had no idea - my add-on comment was just what came to mind as would fit in well. Not shocked to learn it's about Roy Cohn, though, the "I'm gay, but I exist in a plane of wealthy predator above normies that worry about their sexuality as a label because I'm allowed to participate in society however I want" vibe was strong. I figured it was Peter Thiel, so not far off.

  • This is actually very true. I did always object to knowing that Boolean operators work in Google coming to be called "Dorking." I amassed a sizeable MP3 collection in the early oughts thanks to searching ".mp3" and finding people's public folders filled with their CD rips. Just out there, freely hanging the internet wind.

These days SEO optimization has rendered Google itself borderline useless, and IIRC they removed some operators from use at some point. I have to use DDG, Brave and Leta searching Google if I want to find anything that's not just a URL for an obvious thing. And half the time none of that works anyway and I can't even find things I've found previously.

  • That's brilliant! Thanks!

  • "Henry, the only label I need is Sexual Libertarian. An omnivore of genitals and hearts. Come as you are... All over the place. And so will I. Does that sound enticing, Henry?"

  • I only like a good fission restaurant of they cut the atoms diagonally like a PB&J
