• I think you need to address why cooking sucks for you. Do you know how to cook properly? My wife isn't a big fan and that's mainly as she doesn't know what goes well together and doesn't know how to use herbs and spices so needs recipes to tell her how to make most foods, especially initially.

I know you mean well but this is so condescending, wtf? It is bizarre how many people on this thread are acting like it is an actual impossibility for someone else to not enjoy something simply because others like it. I don't even hate cooking but it's so weird how everyone is INSISTING that no, this person must be confused when they state they don't like a task that is broadly considered a chore by many. ????? What is happening? I'm sure there are many things that they enjoy that you might not because we all enjoy different things.

  • What I really miss is the distinction between texting and instant messenging. I LOVED chatting on AIM when I was teenager. When you wanted to talk you signed on and when you were done, you just signed off. Now anyone anywhere can pop up in your pocket at any moment, demanding attention. Worse is that a good portion of people consider it rude to not answer a text immediately or even still, consider a day or 2 to be unreasonably long. Yeah, I might be checking my phone, but that doesn't mean I'm available to talk to you at this exact moment for any myriad of reasons, including that maybe I just don't feel like it. I started treating texts more like email and it has helped so much.

  • Because they don't need to remember that. They know they can shoot whoever they want with impunity as long as they follow a certain script.

  • Fucking unconscionable. We knew they were self-selecting monsters, but fuck. It's all so awful.

  • This is such an annoying take because of how uninformed it is. The people obsessed with the second amendment and the "well-regulated miltia" are the same folks building the dumpster fire.

  • Isn't that basically the US's slogan at this point?

  • My office is moving buildings and they are having an open floor plan. Of course, they are going on and on about collaboration, but they also mentioned that they are getting everyone noise cancelling headphones and will have multiple white noise machines. Dear god how loud do they expect it to be? It sounds like a complete nightmare.

  • Not music, but I really like coffee shop noises if I'm struggling to focus up. Random barista sounds, indiscernible chatter, light but pleasant clinking of spoons and cups. There are YouTube & podcast channels that have like 8 hours solid.

  • What kind of music it is definitely makes a difference for me. Sometimes if I need to focus really hard, I have to turn on something instrumental otherwise I'll get distracted by the lyrics/singing along in my head.

  • Why do I feel like people bring these posts up so they can feel better about themselves by downvoting anyone who disagrees? Hm..

I guess because you lack empathy and refuse to acknowledge that reality is probably more nuanced than your singular lived experience?

Who is actually trying to make themselves feel better here: the person who's posturing as simply better than others because you don't struggle with your weight? Or the people down voting you because they recognize there are a myriad of other factors that might cause a person to struggle with eating healthy including:
-food deserts
-physical or mental disabilities
-lack of time (some people are legit out there working 2 or 3 jobs)
-inadequate cooking spaces (especially cheap apartments in big cities)

  • I saw a video the other day of a doctor explaining early warning signs of dementia and they were basically all just symptoms of ADHD. Things like difficulty managing finances or completing chores lol. So idk whAt that means.

  • Right? That part took me out.

  • Only reach out to them if you are actually in their state. When they receive a flood of calls from people around the country, it's easy for them to write it off and claim they're just getting brigaded and it's not something their actual constituents disagree with.

  • Womp womp. My partner and I are in the process of a cross country move (out of Texas! Woo hoo!) and we're supposed to fly back next week to finally pack up our stuff and get the house ready to rent out. It's been sitting on the market for 5 months and hemorrhaging money now that we're gone, so we're finally throwing in the towel and accepting that we're going to have a long-term financial tie to Texas.

  • That's not even close to the worst part. After Zwerner reported his "violent mood," two other teachers reported to Parker that students were telling them he had a gun... The first searched his backpack and turned up nothing but believed it could have been on his person (they saw him tuck something under his sweatshirt.) Parker's response was that his pockets were too small to hold a gun. Second teacher had another student report he had flashed them the gun in his pocket. Second teacher wanted to search him, but Parker forbade him because the first teacher had already searched his backpack.

    That's pretty fucking bad...

  • Remember during the 2020 election they were circulating photos of looting and civil unr at in "Biden's America" but they were literally pictures taken during Trump's administration?

  • No, it's because they don't care.

  • Pretty sure it's an ADHD thing. I'm like that with people's faces. For a long time I thought I had facial blindness but realized a couple of years ago, I'm just not generally paying attention to faces enough to record them into memory. When I actually learn what someone's face looks like instead of their general shape/hair/clothes/accessories, I have no problem recognizing them in a variety of situations.
