  • That's such a massive extrapolation that there's no longer any relation to any current problem. Longevity is fiction, but somewhat plausible. Your scenario is fantastic fantasy.

    Currently, the top 10% is literally destroying the world. Them living longer means the world will end sooner, longevity or not, amongst many other problems.

    And they are just the face of the evil nature of humans. If we don't solve our evil there is no point in living longer. I don't want to live in a world where human evil has more power, nor do I think the other species would want to.

    You're talking about creating hell.

    And if that logic was true, we would already have a problem worse than the yank tank issue, where the cars get bigger and bigger for "protection". Every vehicle would get louder and louder to be heard above the other loud vehicles, and eventually living in a city would mean enjoying the non stop sound of atomic bombs exploding everywhere 100 times per second per car.

    But unlike the yank tank issue, everyone would be deaf, and then the noise wouldn't matter anymore. I guess that's the best case scenario that those kinds of sadists hope for. They can't hear anymore, so they want everyone else to be deaf as well.

    Your pleasure should never be above the safety and rights of others. I understand headphones won't give you the same "pleasure" as the sound of real explosions, but that's the limits of how you should be able to enjoy it.

    Plenty of people watch F1 and love the sounds of a V8 or V10 or whatever. So much so they can tell them apart.

    That's what I would like to know, why do those dysfunctional individuals exists. What issue happened that made them enjoy loud noises that should make them scared? Do they enjoy the sound of thunder? Airplane jets next to their faces? Why?

    Sure if we shined a light on your life we might find that you too are a little inconsiderate at times.

    If I caused hearing damage to people, damaged their health, made the life of hundreds (thousands? I don't how long you've been driving) a nightmare, I should be jailed or killed. I am a sociopath then, a danger to society.

    How on hell is that behavior legal I don't know, but I am not an absolute piece of shit committing crimes daily. And if I am I DO deserve punishing and it's astonishing that society would not do it.

  • I don't. To me the exhaust and noise are terrible but unavoidable issues of a combustion engine. A fetish with it and attempts to hear more of it are alien concepts to me. I would only modify my car to reduce the issue and I don't know what you need to do to enjoy your "pleasure".

    If it's not loud (assuming I can trust you understand what not loud means) how can you hear from inside the car? And if you can hear from inside, people outside can hear it MORE. So it's an impossible concept to me. Like enjoying hurting others but that they don't feel pain.

    Or do you mean that anything below killing people and damaging structures is not absurdly loud and therefore acceptable?

    I really wish to know those answers, but above all; WHY ARE THERE SO MANY LIKE YOU? How come this species have so many dysfunctional individuals and how on earth is this accepted?   • You seem to be ignoring some stuff specific to llms, but anyway I'm curious; which graphical llm is not based in other people's work?

    Perhaps stolen was a strong term, but they are all based on other people's work right? When I used it I could clearly see the styles of some artists it was trained on.

    I'm curious about that but even if it's magically original to me that's is still only useful to look at someone else's work, even if is a computer work. It's not a tool in itself I can master and improve my work.

    Like fluid simulation for instance. You can light and render it well, but you can't fully control it, because you're not the one making it. When I need a very specific splash for a render I need to manually model it. And then llm is even worse because it controls the whole thing by itself.

    You should have found a different comparison. Photoshop, at least before they added Ai, was a tool that required competence and learning to use. You became better using and failing at it over time.

    Llm as a bank of stolen work from great artists has its uses, like for initial concepts, which before I would do with Google images, looking at other people's works. And like that, it just requires that I know what I'm looking for, not that I have any competence nor did it teach me anything other than learning what other people do.

    The radicalism is bad but it's inevitable since most people are trying to sell it as something that it is not.

    Specially the employers. They don't care if I'm getting better or learning anything, but that I'm outputting something faster and costing them less. It works for them, but it's causing a great damage.

  • It may be a generation thing. For quite a while YouTube was about content, not presentation. You usually watched the video about something and that was all the video showed, specially because monetisation wasn't so common. Even garbage was mostly just the garbage itself (and there was lots of it, but different than now). It was a treasure chest, full of content people uploaded just because they wanted other people to see.

    I guess this guy is OK for the current "standards*, but that's a very, very low bar now. I'm not criticising him in particular, but YouTube in general. It's always a shock to me when I get exposed to it, which is luckily rare.
