My stories: Abandoned drippings

  • Matter of taste. For my part, I don't like watching movies with anyone who can't carry a conversation while it's happening. I love getting the live reactions and theories as the movie is still playing out.

  • This is partner. It's like a tic. It's actually amazing to watch. It's like they become possessed by the spirit of cinema and start babbling about the most obscure trivia you've ever heard.

    Fortunately, I love it.

  • I love that kind of stuff. Both me and my wife do it, then we theory craft. We try to guess twists before they're revealed.

This obviously doesn't work well without subtitles.

  • Conceptually, sure. But the last big setpiece made no sense from a visual perspective. I feel like you would need to show an overhead view of the map simultaneously, to actually keep track of what was happening.

  • From the link...

Microsoft provides the Israeli military with Azure cloud and AI services that are crucial in empowering and accelerating Israel’s genocidal war on 2.3 million Palestinians in the illegally occupied Gaza Strip.

  • Thanks for this. There are no perfect solutions in this world, and you're right--it's something. Maybe I can use what influence I have in this role to set up the next generation of tech workers to do better than we did.

  • The deep cut has formed into a rift. I'm almost completely burned on the notion of doing any good in this world with my tech skills. I'm applying to work at a university now, which at least is a bit more of a public service. But it still is selling the next generation on corpo tech, and credentialism.

I'm not sure my money work can ever really be a net good.

  • Damn it's always the evil ones with the cake. Just think of the good he could have done...

  • I think we all project but just lie to ourselves about it. Maybe I'm projecting though too

  • more questions

  • Though she might try to couple with your head--fruitlessly, of course.

  • Give poor person money: they spend the money.

Give rich person money: they use it to leverage more money out of the economy of working people.

Wow so good at business look at all the money they're stealing.

  • Ahh but you see they also revile fat people.

  • That would be tragic, but indications point to him being actually ideological

  • Sometimes women, you can connect with them better on an emotional level as opposed to men.

Not just women ofc, but generally people who have been socialized to be more empathetic.

I feel like a part of the issue is the quality of the friends out there (including pov). Sure if you get "adopted" by a cool friend or group it's easy to follow their lead, but so many of us don't actually know how to be good friends.

  • We don't let individuals own nuclear weapons. We shouldn't allow individuals to wield financial weapons.

  • Like complaining about the number of people on the rafts versus the Titanic. You can stay there if you want, but you are never going to "fix" a platform that you don't control.

  • See I say I'm a Virgo as an excuse for my behaviour, but maybe it's just that I grew up with 5.
