Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What job or profession can you admit that you're just not cut out for?
1·3 天前I was seriously considering becoming an animal cop/animal control officer, but then I realized I would not be able to contain my rage at the people who mistreated the animal, even if I knew that they were being arrested or being fined for whatever they did. I want those people to physically suffer. I’d just end up in jail myself for harming them.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your pet name for your SO, and vice versa?
2·7 天前In all the relationships I’ve ever had, I’ve never had pet names for my partner, and they never had any for me, which I guess is kinda weird? Like, are there “pet name people” and “non-pet name people”, and do they only attract the same type?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a useful or interesting product under $100 that you wouldn’t normally think to buy?
11·16 天前Hell yeah, 100x better than a drip.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you moisturize after a shower & if you do what do you use?
2·16 天前Yes, I use e.l.f. Holy Hydration face cream, just a little bit, but more in the winter. It’s fragrance free and not oily at all.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which kind of alcohol gives you the worst hangover?
1·21 天前Malted stuff like Old English, Colt 45, and some hard seltzers (though not all).
I got fired from Starbucks for not smiling enough back in the late 90s. To be fair, I have a pretty bad case of Resting Bitch Face, so I get it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Americans, what do typically have for breakfast?
4·21 天前Workout days (3 a week) I eat an egg/feta cheese/spinach scramble with 1 chicken breakfast sausage and about 1/4 cup of sweet potatoes. I meal prep these and keep them in the freezer.
Any non-workout day it’s non-fat Greek yogurt with half an apple, 1/4 cup protein granola, and 2 TBSP of PB Fit powder.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's a bad habit you use to have for a long time but finally fixed?
111·22 天前Smoking. I smoked for 13 years before I finally quit after multiple attempts. So glad I did too, because the cost of cigarettes has become insane.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How old are you (roughly) and how long does it take you to recover from illnesses and injuries compared to when you were younger?
3·30 天前45 here, and it depends on the illness/injury. I don’t get ill very often, can get over a cold in a week, still never had COVID (that I’m aware of, knock on wood). But God forbid I get any sort of scratch or cut anywhere on my body, it will always always get infected, always. Yes, I bathe regularly, wash my hands religiously, use anti-bac wound cream, cover the wound, etc, it ALWAYS gets red and itchy and irritated. That never used to happen to me in my 20s or 30s.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What "deals" have you made with yourself that are real and practical for your purposes?
7·1 个月前I told myself I wouldn’t drink alcohol the night before I go to the gym the following morning, mostly because there’s no way I could complete the workout if I was hungover. I got to the gym Tues, Thurs, Sun, so it keeps me sober at least 3 days out of the week and usually more (I have it down to drinking only 2 nights a week). So far I’ve stuck to my “deal”, which is way better than where I was a year ago (drinking every night). Nobody in my life knows I struggle with this (I think they either wouldn’t believe me because I’m “the good one” or would outright disown me because I’m so good at hiding it). It’s really hard, but I manage.
I was very disappointed at the gym this morning when I realized I didn’t have it all to myself.
Wash your chicken before cooking. Don’t do this, it just spreads salmonella all over your sink.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Without stating your age, how old are you?
1·1 个月前I was 6 years old when Optimus Prime died for our sins.

I swear I remember some rumor from back in the day that Carmex was somehow addictive: You’d put in on your lips to keep them from drying up, but Carmex had fiber glass in it, which would make tiny cuts on your lips, which made them dry and crack even more, so you then you had to use more Carmex, rinse and repeat.
Thanks for unlocking that memory for me. The 80s were a weird time.
