In fairness to Intel, every modern semi design house has that same issue: a chip is designed and laid out for a specific node, so this isn’t really a failing so much as a how-it-works.
I thought i read somewhere that either their design was particularly tailored towards a specific node or that following that they made it a higher priority to be less bound to one. But i can’t find a source for it, so i might be mistaken.
So now that a cout has ruled that there was foreign interference to such a degree that a presidential election has to be redone: At what point does this get treated as an attack by NATO or the EU?

How so? Literally no one uses EUV for 10nm and this wasn’t the problem. Isn’t SMCI even pushing DUV toproducing 5nm?
My limited understanding is that they were too ambitious with e.g. using cobalt interconnects and at the same time had the issue that they tied their chip designs to specific nodes. Meaning that when the process side slipped they couldnt just take the design and use it on a different node without a lot of effort.
Also I think they were always going to lose apple at some point. With better products they might have delayed it further. But apple fundamentally has an interest in vertical integration and control. And they were already designing processors for their phones and tablets.
You could even go as far as changing the “will” to “is”, looking at how much Tesla’s stock recently gained due to the forward looking nature of the market.
There are two types of persistent storage drives for computers: HDD (hard disk drive), which have a spinning platter inside on which the data is stored, and SSD (solid state drive), which unlike HDDs have no moving mechanical parts and store their data in semiconductor cells.
HDDs are still cheaper per gb at large sizes and offer larger capacities, which is why you mostly will see them in storage servers.
SSDs are faster, more shock resistant (due to no mechanical parts) and I think consume less power.
Because of that nowadays you will hardly ever see HDDs in laptops anymore, it’s all SSDs (which can be either of the sata or nvme type, the latter being faster)
Yeah, I guess it depends on what kind of work. I thought that for demanding office stuff the 8gb RAM might end up mattering after all.
But your $700 with warranty are an amazing deal that make this irrelevant. That really only leaves the single external monitor (without using workarounds) as downside.
Where I am in Europe however I don’t think I could find the better specced models anywhere close to that price
Honestly agreed. For the majority of users that just do light office work and browsing it is a great piece of technology. Although i would say it is less about performance (because those people would be fine with even less) and more about build quality, battery life, fanless design and good screen.
The one issue i have with it is the 256gb non-removable storage. More actually than the 8gb RAM, which tbh for many people is enough for casual use.
I am still waiting for anyone not named apple to release a similarly priced fanless laptop with good build quality. With lunar lake it should finally be possible imo.

Entweder steht man hinter Scholz oder serviert ihn sofort ab (bzw. er macht selbst sofort Platz). Die Debatte hat letztlich keinerlei Vorteile gebracht, sondern Scholz und die SPD nur geschwächt.
Wie schwer verletzt muss man sich das eigentlich vorstellen im Durchschnitt?
Weil in Bezug auf Logistik und Ressourcen müssten Schwerverletzte doch sogar problematischer sein als tatsächliche Verluste.
For me the bigger value is not in the quality difference between the two platforms. And don’t get me wrong, i agree that BlueSky is a lot better than Elon’s Twitter, but not as good as a decentralised Fediverse Platform.
The real positive is in the act of migration itself, because it shows that is still a possibility. So hopefully it proves sustainable.

Of course you also need to know the month, but similar to the year i would argue that there are plenty of times where the month is evident from context. So the informational value is lower than the day.
I don’t want to argue that this is an absolute thing, but i’d say that quantitatively there are more times where you only need the day compared to very few times where you only need the month for example.
I’d agree that yyy.mm.dd is probably the best for sorting reasons, but imo dd.mm.yyyy also has at least some logic in an everyday setting. Usually the order of relevance for everyday appointments is the day, then month, then year. Oftentimes the year has no informational value at all, since it is implied, e.g. for an upcoming birthday.
Was mich persönlich extremst irritiert ist, dass es überhaupt erlaubt ist neben einem Job bei den Stadtwerken gleichzeitig Nebentätigkeiten wie z.B. Aufsichtsrat in großen Energieunternehmen nachzugehen. Das ist doch ein Paradebeispiel von systematischem Interessenkonflikt, den man als Arbeitgeber prinzipiell ausschließen sollte, denn es besteht ja eine direkte Verkäufer/Kunden-Beziehung.
Das kann doch der Logik nach nur schief gehen, denn letztlich sind sie dadurch beiden Arbeitgebern gegenüber Verpflichtet in ihrem Interesse zu handeln. Aber der Gewinn der einen Seite, ist oft genug der Verlust der anderen.

Wobei sie das in dem Fall denke ich nicht nur zum Abgraben von Wählern, sondern leider auch aufgrund der eigenen intoleranten Gesinnung machen würden. Merkel, die ja trotz all ihrer Fehler wahrscheinlich eher dem moderaten Lager der Union angehört, hat selbst z.B. gegen die Ehe für Alle gestimmt.
Das tragische dabei ist, wie ineffizient der Durchschnittsdeutsche spart. Aufgrund mangelnder Finanzbildung, extrem defensiver Mentalität, bestehender Vorurteile, teurer Finanzprodukte und tiefverwurzelten Abzocker-Strukturen bleibt dabei wahrscheinlich kaum Rendite über.
Ich wüsste echt gerne wieviel % der Sparrate direkt in die Taschen irgendwelcher Berater fließt und das obwohl dadurch noch nichtmal korrekt angelegt wird.
Vor allem darf man finde ich nicht vergessen, dass die Ausgangsrohstoffe z.B. eines veganen Schnitzels vielleicht in der Herstellung stark bearbeitet werden, dafür wird das “natürliche” Fleisch in der Aufzucht teilweise massiv mit Medikamenten etc bearbeitet.
