It’s kind of disheartening not having solidarity as consumers. It also feeds this kinda FOMO because you showed restraint and are missing out on something.

I am very sorry this happened to you. I don’t know who you are, or the first thing about you. For all intents and purposes, I am just a random internet guy reading about your struggles.

You clearly have a deep level of patience, empathy, and have devoted a significant portion of your being to another person. Never let anyone, including her, ever make you doubt that. She cannot and/or will not accept that and has clearly decided to take that for granted. It is very very rare to find someone like you who will put up with such utter bullshit for that long.

I really relate because I was in a similar relationship. Unfortunately, these things tend to happen. Let none of this extinguish the light of who you are. Just as you showed love and loyalty to someone, love and loyalty must be shown back. There are no free lunches. Not in partnership, and certainly not in life.

It’s probably majority network effects. If you compare Instagram to 5, 10 years ago on the dot, you see an atrocious drop off on quality and usability. The change was so insidious, majority of people didn’t notice or care all that much. And yet, Instagram is still one of the largest platforms in the US, despite how objectively horrendous it is to users.

look, I trust F-droid and open source apps more than I trust the sponsored garbage on play store alongside shit like kalshi and candycrush. The security point is moot. The call is coming from inside the house.

As for ad money, being one of the most grossly profitable corporations in the world isn’t enough? Must line go up always? At what point is having an absurd amount of profit enough? Where is the line?

Up until now, I haven’t been overwhelmingly emotional about all the horrible things happening right now.

I don’t know why this news hit me particularly hard. Reading it made me feel like a part of me died. Got glassy eyed. This kind of feels like the final betrayal in a sense. Not the ultimate betrayal, but one super close to my heart.

The ironic thing is that they could still be rich beyond their wildest dreams while leaving enough for the rest of us to pursue happiness and (at minimum) stability. They just want more than ‘rich beyond your wildest dreams’.

But what about essential services that you can’t avoid? Online banking. Education like blackboard is horrid on Firefox. Youtube and social media are optional use, but for access to utility sites and finance are not.

That is where we are heading the longer chromium remains dominant.

This is so crazy because everytime they need a distraction, they pivot to “LOOK GUYS ALIENS MIGHT POSSIBLY ACTUALLY EXIST!!”

It is just so blatantly obvious that it’s a distraction tactic. Even if aliens did exist, I highly doubt that fact would change the course of the country significantly because we can’t even have the right wing agree on objective reality except for rising gas prices.

On the bright side, reality is finally catching up to the other half of the USA. Because of car centric infrastructure, the consequence of big orange’s actions will finally reach the people who need to feel it the most.

I just got back to the US from japan and now I’m super depressed that I have to drive 14 minutes to the nearest grocery store… Which is Walmart.

My mom has always been a die hard Catholic. Yesterday she made a comment that really worried me. I’ve been trying to de-MAGA her since 2016 to no avail. She finally said “you know, this new pope leo is kind of a dumbass. I don’t think I like him so much”. No further elaboration. No further conversation between us. I just didn’t have anything else to say, add, or rebutt.

I really don’t know what else to do. That’s my mom man, and even the Catholic dogma is not enough to convince her to dump trump.
