  • In my head I think a fair solution would make it harder for landlords to buy one extra house every time they go to buy a new one. So one person renting out one house would be barely any harder than the current setup, but one person renting out two houses would start to feel like it might not be worth it etc.

  • Yes that's correct, if landlords couldn't run a business then the overall pricing of housing would be low enough that a renter could afford it due to supply and demand of the greater housing market

  • Leftists exist between liberal and communist.

And since communism can't work with our current understanding of humanity leftist is about as left as you can get

In my analogy everybody does get a ball because that's the social safety net necessary for gameplay. Not everybody gets a fancy hat with a neat feather though

  • Gross, wrong

  • Leftists are capitalists too, they just know that strong social safety nets are required to keep the ball in play instead of letting the billionaires take it home with them.

  • Then educate the willing. Don't focus on the cultists, focus on the people who voted out of desperation and fear.

They aren't all gone, many of them continue to wish for a brighter pleasant future in the same vein that we do. They just don't see it being delivered and have lost hope.

  • Educate more.

    Education never stops.

  • But all the ads will come back, so it's a wash

  • There's not really a water problem, there's only expensive desalination. Since water is a government controlled resource, we'll just have to spend money on building new desalination plants.

  • Define problem, because it's less waste than old solar panels per megawatt. Both of which we just throw away in special places designed specifically for that waste.

  • Your idealist solution is impossible in the practical world that we live in since first past the post voting will always favor the two gigantic parties. It is far easier to change the DNC into what we want then to create a third party

  • It costs a lot to become vice president, especially if you weren't born in America

  • Well that's just two reasons not to date them since those guys all probably listen to Tate.

  • As I said before, it can work for small businesses but not for countries. Country governance was the original topic of this thread.

  • I'm familiar with the concept, you don't need to explain it. I'm just saying it can't work in the real world yet

  • Worker cooperatives can't run an entire country. They can barely run a single business, but only if the business is small.

  • Well if soc dems aren't left then i guess I'm not left.

I didn't know we were taking anything left of soc dem seriously yet, as we haven't proven any sort of successful means of governing people that far left.

  • That might be it, Thunderbird works really well with auto configuration of domains that it doesn't know but has DNS entries.
