  • And on top of that, they have been destroying the planet, their cars secretly emmititng so many more emmissions than they were supposed to.. (remember dieselgate anyone)?

Also, they were so focused building and selling the cars THEY wanted (expensive and luxurious) instead what the majority of the people in the EU actually needed\could afford (basic and good value for money cars).

  • Freaking corrupt, incompetent servant of the all-powerfull German car-industry. German car industry that has been milking the ICEs for decades, refusing to invest in electric, just because they could (because they are in essence running the goverment in germany and EU).

Now, with china rightfully taking over EV sales in the EU they are crying out louder than ever that jobs will be lost in Germany. If any jobs eventually do get scraped, it will be due to their own decisions and inaction.

I say, since these companies and their shareholders enjoyed their profits, let them bite the consequences. Let them get out of business and do let some European people lose their jobs. This can be a great learning opportunity for europeans, a grand lecture on the wonderful results of unhinged and extreme freaking capitalism.

  • You can accomplish this using your router. The router can send the magic package to the computer. You can do this remotely from over the internet and even through a VPN connection to your router (preferred). If your router doesnt support the functionality out-of-the-box, OpenWRT does!

  • Greece has a similar law in place. It is one of the main reasons why eventually corruption permeated greece.

  • The problem is not this bloke. The problem is the people that voted for him.

  • It's good to know that the European Commission has our (European) back!

  • I know the feeling! I've been happily rolling with opensuse tumbleweed for almost a year now. Btrfs rollback is a life saver (2 times). Less than 5 minutes for a rollback. Other than that, pretty solid..

  • I don't see why the fuss here? Qemu-based emulators for android exist for quite some time now (like userland)

  • You are confusing something with another political system.

Since ancient Greek times, where democracy was invented, severely unlawful behaviour was always being punished by also revoking political rights: offenders would loose both the right to vote and the right to represent others or hold any kind of public office.

And all of this exactly so as to protect the democracy itself.

  • The court is simply applying French law. It is not going against democracy. Le pen and her party broke the law and attacked democracy.

The judges didn't invent and apply their own stuff, they applied the same law yhat appllies to everyone and punished le pen and het party within the boundaries of the law.
