No, that was my setup for some time. KVM with PCI-e passthrough to pass the entire GPU to a windows VM. Worked great, until EAC started banning me for using a VM.

Yes, but the conventions about when to use normal, en, and em dashes persist. When writing documents in LaTeX, you simply use -, --, or --- depending on which dash you want (and there are linters warning you about using the wrong kind of dash).
