  • That would be great improvement to both Canada and New England/west coast however I do not see that ever happening given trigger happy authoritarian in charge would simply use that as an excuse for military occupation of said states. They’d use the same excuse as Russia did for invading crimea except they’d sort of have a point because there is no “legal” way for a state to secede by its own volition I don’t think.

  • That’s fair, you probably won’t brick their ai model but it can make it useless for that particular camera output.

  • Ahh yes the local police! An infamous bastion of web security, IT infrastructure, and thinking long term. Who could ever crack the default passwords on their IT setup? How could we ever hope to social engineer these above average intelligence elite local cops into plugging in a usb drive to their work computer. This is all definitely impossible, no local police branch has ever been a victim of ransomware so we know for sure it can’t be done and deserves all the cynicism and comparisons to Hollywood movies from the 80s.

Of course we also know that by “anonymous types” I meant that one specific group of people you have in mind who did that one thing 10 years ago and not just socially conscious programmers with basic knowledge of social engineering and web infrastructure. That would be a ridiculous thing to mean of course.

  • You watch too much tv. All you need is to degrade the quality of the recorded video on any camera exposed to the public internet enough for ai to have divergent results due to how ambiguous the images captured are. There are thousands of hobby projects that let you browse actual feeds from such cameras and usually that means you can get hardware metadata and in most cases change how the video is recorded by patching the driver running on the already publicly accessed cameras. Why make an exaggerated strawman argument while at the same time pretending you know better than everyone else?

  • That’s exactly what most junior devs do when stuck. They rehash the same solution over and over and it almost seems like that llms trained on code bases infer that behavior from commit histories etc.

It almost feels like on of those “we taught him these tasks incorrectly as a joke” scenarios

  • It’d be a shame if anonymous types started working on poisoning all publicly accessible cameras with ai poison pills that brick whatever model you try to run on the footage

  • I know trumpers won’t ever hear about this or if they do it will be a completely twisted story and they’ll think the judge shot at the ice agents or something but the amount of mental effort it has to take to not see this as a tinpot dictator move is unbelievable. It’s hard to believe people this dumb walk among us and go to work and everything

  • Using autism as a shield to be a raging asshole on every possible subject. Might as well drop the autistic part because all that’s doing is giving a bad name to other autistic people who aren’t intentionally and furiously assholes to everyone. Why even comment if you’re gonna be wrong and bitchy about everything? Sounds like you wake up and piss in your own cornflakes my dude

  • Hard to accept a “skeptic” in a field with overwhelming evidence that he’s wrong. It means he either doesn’t or refuses to understand the current data which makes him just a dummy not a skeptic

  • Agreed but my point still stands. They weren’t late because “fuck ai”

  • Idk about how good Apple is at developing phones anymore though. I’m sure if they tried to innovate it would be good but they’re experts at slow dripping features invented and released by other manufacturers after many years of already being on the market. They’re late on AI, they’re not the best phone for the photo obsessed, they’re not bringing new exciting things to the phones, and they’re by far not competitive on pricing. Not sure what they really bring other than advertising and planned obsolescence of batteries and other components. I say this fully aware of irony of typing it on an iPhone, which I cannot wait to replace as soon as my car supports android auto or I find a way to spoof car play for bmw v7 car sortware. I have a 2 year old iPhone and it’s been nothing but a downgrade from my ancient galaxy s9 in everything but screen display quality

  • I guess we could just call bankrupting anything from now on “going in the orange”. You know when you’re so far in the red your only choice is to turn into a fascist and begin killing immigrants you’re probably in the orange

  • In other news it appears that Andrew Tate does in fact have a penis despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary (any picture of him in a swim suit). Kind of a bad day to have a working memory

  • Same phrase applies to non voters and trumpanzees alike. You were lied to and you fell for it … simple as

  • Well the ipo brought enshitification at max speed so that’s not surprising. They ostracize and remove users who contributed to communities for a decade+ and then replace the long standing communities with a generic, Reddit controlled alternative that only reposts all time top posts to gain traction. The only thing Reddit has going for it is the user content which is rapidly getting buried under AI slop. Worst of all (for the investor class) you can’t really see Reddit being turned into another right wing cesspool to bait young men into violence with … so there really seems to be less and less reason for Reddit to exist. Let’s hope by 2030 it’s like one of those websites people say “remember when we had Reddit …”

  • That’s incredibly presumptuous. If you’re a janitorial service, or front office person from a temp agency living paycheck to paycheck it’s not a reasonable thing to do to ask them to change jobs because they’re assigned to work for the Tesla building. If we expected that of everyone nobody would ever work for insurance companies, pharma companies, big tech, oil, trucking, or literally anywhere at all. It’s not the working class’ fault that oligarchs make their Nazi supporting companies the only place that will hire you in most areas (looking at Amazon especially).

Now if you’re a middle class car salesman and you peddle swastikars to republican morons then by all means I agree. Everyone else is mostly just getting hassled for no reason. I get the sentiment but if you forget the human element you get closer to the abuser than the solution

  • It’s going to be one of those things where you pay to remove the obvious ads already marked as promoted content. Then it will be replaced by endless feed of accounts posting ai slop that markets specific items/ideas to people. Why get paid to put Tide ads on side banner when the user can pay you to receive fake content promoting right wing ideology (in exchange for access to power in the us). There is no world in which Facebook, a tool to generate fake consensus, is not filled with advertisements. Paid or not paid, you’re being advertised to on there

  • The only people I feel bad for here are the minimum wage employees at the Tesla dealerships. It’s just a job and you can also do it poorly and not sell any teslas, or maybe they work for a janitor service or security. None of those folks deserve to worry about their safety because the guy at the top is ruining the country - that part has nothing to do with them

  • Usually that stuff is not included because women sex toys are seen as empowering while for men it’s seen as “gross, unnecessary, or otherwise perverted”. So I doubt they’re counting the fact that women have technically been fucking robots for a lot longer than men lol
