  • RPGs got worse for me as soon as they shifted to adding VAs for every line. FFX (1&2) were the last Final Fantasy games I played all the way through. (FFX-2: would not play again even though the combat system was better). I'm fine with voice acting, but I liked when I could read dialogue and advance it accordingly.

  • Wouldn't be as hard these days, based on how Google search has been eshittified.

  • I don't interpret their response that way.

As someone who is not in a good financial place, I would never work for ICE.

However, as someone who is not in a good financial place, if I realized I was probably working for an evil empire and couldn't change anything from the inside: I wouldn't be able to quit because my family would starve. I'd need to find another way to provide first, and that's not easy when you've got kids and debt in a bad job market.

Stocking grocery store shelves wouldn't pay the bills. That's fairy tale logic/something that people with means can joke about doing.

Heck yeah though, if stocking shelves paid 6 figures I'd apply immediately.

  • Five months so far.

  • Does anyone have a video mash up of them talking about the tan suit?

  • The kind that pretends he understands the terminal output before entering "Y" after pasting in a decade-old user script suggestion on stack exchange.

  • From my therapist, jokingly: "Jesus Christ, you people can't do anything!"

  • My life has only gotten worse since getting addicted to forums and social media. I've become much less productive as well. Feels bad :(

  • Plenty of the right leaning people I talk to say he was reaching for his gun. I can't see it.

  • Fair point.

  • Personal laptop is on Linux and working fine since I got it last year. Windows gaming machine is the next candidate for a move over this year.

  • They ding you for everything even you have this feature enabled for you (knowingly or unknowingly). Remember hearing about a user whose cat would run in front of his car when he was parking it at the end of the day. Car registered it as him almost hitting an object.

Drive on super bad/winding roads with bad lines? Lane assistance might show you as going over the lane lines that aren't even there.

This service won't be used to lower rates.

  • Wasn't terrible, wasn't great, but I was younger. Cherish your youth.

  • I agree that it's already started.

I don't know about America losing. We have a wacko in charge that would rather nuke the world than admit defeat.

  • I can't see the video because I don't have an x account anymore and it's been marked as sensitive. Is there a mirror? I can't find it on her BlueSky account.

  • You can sign up for an account now on browser. You can only log in with an email. They send you a confirmation code to your email that you have to put in, in order to log in. Once you do this, you can create your username (which is tied to an email). This is probably to stop people from using throwaway accounts to log in.

So far I like Lemmy more but I'll scope it out to see what happens next.

  • Isn't one of the guys behind reddit also behind bringing this back? It seems like another way to corner the market. I'd still join for a week to see if it could be my thing, though

  • These are basically my thoughts.

I won't fault anyone for deleting their presence on social media, but if the goal is to disrupt the platform and perhaps start a movement for others to leave, leaving by itself won't help.

Connections on social media aren't as solid as they are in real life: they're feed-based. Your loss will be drowned out by the feed.

  • I'd recommend leaving Twitter without actually leaving. As in: clear out your entire profile of data, change your pfp icon/banner accordingly, and change your bio to something supporting the call to leave.

Social media sites do well because, when people leave, the feed fills in around them and mutuals no longer know they're gone. For added impact, set up an automated message saying why you've left and where to found you, or something else to that extent.
