Just a guy not on Reddit

  • Wow first I'm hearing of this, how can I add it to Prowlarr?

  • I do 4x or 1 month whichever comes first. Unless I notice it's some really hard to come by thing and I may leave it up for a year or more.

  • I see, the default docker installer for fail2ban gave me an error because "Port 80 was already in use" (by NGINX Manager).

  • If any service has only username and password instead of mfa or password less then it’s not safe.

    None of them do

You also didn’t mention if you have automated patching or immutable backups enabled.

I do not. I don't even know what those are tbh

  • Thanks I'm going to look into fail2ban. I mostly wanted to make sure I wasn't being a total idiot here.

  • Thanks I'll look into these. Quick question: how does fail2ban use port 80 if that's already used by nginx?

  • Selfhosted @lemmy.world

Am I doing this (networking) safely?

  • As others have said it's much easier to just go to Anna's and grab an open copy. You can also check your library's website (it will have DRM but is easier to remove).

I know this is the piracy community but when it comes to books I always check the author's personal website first. Sometimes they sell copies with no/simple DRM and the money goes to them.

Best practices for a fresh stock Android (not Graphene) install?

  • Thanks I realized during this search that even full-flavor WearOS smartwatch only has a slim selection of apps that don't require the phone anyway.

  • Thanks, I think I'm following you. Gadgetbridge will let me use the apps without my phone?

Open source and Smart Watches (no phone)? Advice needed

  • Wow! This is great! Thanks for sharing.

  • This would be great for Emulation, for example converting .bin + .cue or .iso to .pbp, .rvz etc.

  • OK now that's cool! Thanks for sharing.

  • Thank you that's probably too big for my tastes but I appreciate the insight.

  • "Home Server" more than "NAS" so I guess, your typical docker apps, but no LLMs or anything. I would like at least 4 hard drives, preferably m.2 but SATA is fine too.

  • Silence is the only requirement, I just want to know what's out there that other people like. I prefer small. I own SSDs I am interested in the NAS itself.

  • Give me the smallest and fastest that you can come up with as long as it is SILENT

  • Those are awesome lol what would be a good system to run them in?

EDIT: I feel I need to say I'm not actually going to pay for that, 4x4tb is probably plenty but it's still awesome.

  • That's not true anymore I'm running a VERY compact setup in an old Asrock Deskmini and the fan is SILENT,the only noise is the HDDs.
