Technology@lemmy.world•Pizza Hut's AI system caused 'cascading' problems and $100M in damages, franchisee alleges in new suitEnglish
13·20 days agoCrazy that in 1990 we could get pizzas in the burbs in under 30 minutes with no technology and free delivery. Now I can’t even get them still warm…
One of my all time favorites. I still watch it all the time.

You could also create a user systemd service. It’s just a few line config you drop into the correct place in your home directory.
Found this game on My Abondonware.
It works great under WINE, but you need a No CD Patch. I used
Ballistics v1.0 [ENGLISH] No-CD/Fixed EXE #3which worked perfectly.
I guess I answered my own question 🫢
Does anyone remember a computer game from around 2002-2003 by Grin software? I thought it was called Ballistics but must be misremembering.
It was like these games but you were in a tunnel and the ship stuck to the edges so you’d have to rotate around obstacles or temporarily use the release to float off and reattach. I remember it being very fast.
I beta tested the game for Linux but don’t think the Linux port ever went GA before the Linux publisher (maybe LGP) shutdown.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you ever just sit and listen to music, or do you have to be doing something else at the same time?
16·1 month agoI “metaltate” several times a week. Dark room, closed eyes, focus on breathing, and headphones with black metal.

I always thought it was the _Bear_enstein Bears.
fitgse@sh.itjust.workstoHacker News@lemmy.bestiver.se•Why Zip drives dominated the 90s, then vanished almost overnightEnglish
2·2 months agoI was an early adopter of a cd burner but I still found Zip drives to be way better for casual storage. CDrs were great for audio cds or video cds, but cd-rws were slow and painful. Zips were great for quick storage where you didn’t have to think about filling up a cd permanently.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump signs executive order on psychedelic drugs — with Joe Rogan by his side
52·2 months agoThis is only an executive order. We know those are meaningless. I’m curious if there will actually be research on something that could go back to being illegal at any time.

14·2 months agoWow that brought back some memories! Armagetron and tuxracer were the 3d games to play on Linux and test your graphics drivers. I can’t believe there is still a strong community around this.

We spend more on health care per person and have worse outcomes than any country in the global north.
That has a lot to do with privatizing all our medical facilities and wasting a ton of money through private insurance.

Who needs to sail the high seas when your local library has a great set of blu-ray and dvd and you can rip it just like you like it! I love having the commentary and extras too.
