  • Mind sharing that article here?

  • Agent641, I can NOT hear this!

  • His recent solar / renewable one is worth a watch, especially the extended version…

  • I'm not arguing either way with that, just pointing out that our current system (in most of the US at least) demands that you pay someone to live no matter how you do it

  • I would second this heh - buy second hand, and especially if you don't want/need anything fancy..I recently was gifted a 2nd-hand garmin forerunner 235. Battery life could be better, but it does most things well (simple). I wasn't sure I wanted a smart watch, but it's growing on me.

  • Minor nitpick, most places (US-specific) have property taxes you have to pay every year, so even if you own your own home, you're paying something to someone every year for the right to have a roof over your head.

  • This was a prank that "we" would play while camping in the outdoors - at night, "we" would talk about going on a snipe hunt, and "we" would send everyone out to hunt for snipes, laughing as of course they never could find one. I never thought about whether this had racist overtones before, but I grew up in the South so I would have to default to "probably" :(

  • The Dreamcast VMUs, which doubled as tomigotchis or whatever

  • China does have great public transit, and it's cheap. BUT weirdly enough, several years ago they raised the subway/bus cost in some cities. Seems the subways/buses were too successful, so they raised prices to deal with congestion (and maybe budgets were down? dunno). Still super cheap fares, but for many people it was a significant amount.

  • I deleted my first account after the API-calypse and started using Lemmy. Then my cravings came back and I made a 2nd Reddit account, but the ongoing bots/AI bs made me go 100% Lemmy..I used to have a link to some instructions on how to nuke your Reddit account and post history, but I can't find it anymore...

  • I'm also using codium, can you say what the problems with electron apps are? Other than some dependency issues I ran into (but I was on Arch so it was probably my fault), I don't know about problems with electron.

  • My remembering of that line is "and one for the dame", and I grew up in the deep south…strange

  • making the reavers the intentional by-product of alliance experiments

They were the accidental by-products, so I think some nuance is still there for the factions, although still clearly the browncoats were in the right ..

  • As some said once, a vanilla soy latte is technically a 3 bean soup

  • Supposedly this is (of course) a lie/mischaracterization by RFK, that the study is comparing t/sperm levels of kids from the 70s with kids now, and so the kids from the 70s might have had higher levels but now they are in their 60s so...

  • I'll fall back on my default null hypotheses here. The effect is probably minimal if it exists at all. If there is any effect, it is probably negligible if you are doing the big things right. Your body is smart, and responds to changes in its environment with an eye towards improved survival and fitness. It is not a simple CICO machine.

you could hypothesize and these rambling thought experiments...or you could watch the video, and see there are several studies saying the effect exists and isn't minimal
