  • I took it a step further once: we were playing DSA (can't recommend, I don't like the system) and it has a spell called Objectovoco (German source, sorry). That spell allows you to ask objects yes or no questions that they have to answer truthfully. So I was basically interrogating the furniture when we were supposed to have no witnesses to ask.

  • The numbers are a bit misleading here: the overall share of Linux devices has increased massively. The gain of 0.41% points is a relative 15.5% increase from 2.64% share before. Even though SteamOS has a smaller share of this larger Linux share, the overall share (of all devices) of SteamOS increased from 0.290% to 0.315%.

  • It's still trivial, assuming the three guards guard three doors: just ask each guard: "Would the guard that always lies say this door is safe?" The random guard will give a random answer while the other two give the inverted answer. Even better if don't ask the random guard first, then you can repeat the question about the other doors to the same guard and only need two questions

  • I wouldn't be certain about that. If all you want is some gold and gems there should be easier ways to go about it than stealing priceless jewelry from the Louvre. To me it doesn't seem unlikely that some crazy rich guy wanted to have the pieces even despite knowing he could never tell anyone he has them

  • Time zones are fine as they are. They are less confusing than having 23:00 be close to midnight in one place, early morning in another and noon in another place. It would also result in many places either changing the date at random times or having a different date in the morning and in the evening.

  • Both are wrong, correct answer is 39 5/4 (obsviously)

  • I don't think that's specific to the US but propaganda pushed by the (far) right in many places.

  • Is this even legal in the EU? The majority of phones in the EU are Android phones so this effectively gives Google control over what apps can be installed to the majority of phones. I thought the Digital Markets Act was designed to prevent exactly this.

  • From what data I can pull they have roughly 125M subscribers, so it's about 1.4%. This still doesn't sound a lot, but it's effect is exaggerated because of their business model: the majority of their cost is for producing shows and movies, i.e. costs that don't scale with the subscriber count. The cost of serving each subscriber is almost negligible. They need some number of subscribers to break even and every subscriber beyond that is their profit margin. Losing a bunch of subscribers directly cuts into their profit.

    1. I 100% agree
    2. yes, F1 cars are vastly different, but the fundamental principals stay the same. Also, someone who works in car racing has likely a high interest in cars and knows a lot about them, even when it's not directly relevant to the job. Similar to how a software developer likely knows how to set up a printer (or at least more likely than the average Joe) even though it's absolutely not their job.
