Still, my original reason for making a comment is probably true, too: the actual displacement of Native Americans from Texas probably mostly happened at the hands of European Americans who weren't Spanish, because the Spanish were themselves displaced before Texas was "settled" by European Americans.
Uncooked ham is pretty common in the U.S., too. Anything labeled "country ham" is dry cured, and is usually uncooked. Prosciutto generally isn't cooked, either.
In terms of imports, the U.S. has approved the importation of some Spanish hams (jamón ibérico and jamón serrano) that are cured but not cooked, as well as uncooked prosciutto from Italy. The regulatory hoops are a little more difficult and hard for small producers to justify, but there are a handful of producers who have received the appropriate approvals to export to the U.S.
When Spain claimed sovereignty over the area now known as Texas, they didn't actually have de facto control.
A big chunk of modern day residents of Texas trace their lineage back to waves of German and Czech migration. One large wave showed up in the 1830's and 1840's, negotiated a treaty with the Comanches who still controlled the land, and established German-speaking settlements through much of Central Texas. So actual control over the land was established by Germans more than it was Spanish.
Even in the portions of Texas conquered by Spanish settlers have now been settled by people who don't trace back to those Spaniards. The Spanish-speaking people of Texas declared independence with the rest of Mexico and became Mexicans. Then, after the war of Texas Independence, were mostly driven out by English-speaking Texians who had migrated from America (and largely trace back to to English, Scottish, or Irish migrants).
So no, modern day Texans are more German than they are Spanish. Just because the Spanish were the first to do it doesn't mean that they or their descendants actually held the land in the centuries that followed.
You pay for someone (another rail company operating at that railyard) to move it for you into storage, where you pay the storage costs. If you need that railcar somewhere else, you pay someone to transport it somewhere else, same as how cargo rail would work.
Amtrak doesn't actually own most of the rails, and pays the rail owners like CSX for access to those routes.

Is it gross to other people? Seems like an ordinary bare bones cafe to me: a few snacks, including some basic hot food, coffee/tea/soft drinks, beer, wine.
I'm not sure about technological advancements, but there might be economic developments where the price of lithium rises to be high enough that recycling the materials in old batteries becomes a no-brainer and pays for itself. Some are working on scaling lithium battery recycling, and there are serious engineering challenges involved, but the long term trends on lithium prices makes R&D in recycling a pretty attractive investment.
To add to my initial thoughts on gravity storage, the formula for potential energy in a gravity battery is basically mass x height x 9.8 m/s^2 . The sheer amount of weight and distance necessary to store a reasonably useful amount of energy makes for very large scale engineering projects.
The typical cell phone battery holds about 4000 mAh in a 3.7V battery, which translates to about 14.8 Wh, or 53.3 kJ. In order to get the equivalent storage in a gravity systems with a 1000 kg (1 tonne) weight, you'd need to raise it about 5.4 meters, with 100% efficiency.
A Tesla battery capacity is 75 kWh for some of the long range models, which translates to 270 MJ. To store that amount of energy you'd need to raise a 1-tonne weight about 27.6 km, about 3 times the altitude of Mt Everest and more than double the typical cruising altitude of commercial passenger jets.
So the most practical real-world projects they're pursuing tend to use weights of around 20-25 tonnes in abandoned mine shafts as deep as 3km, and can recover the energy at something like 80% efficiency. Each weight can therefore store something like 735 MJ or 204 kWh (aka 3 Tesla batteries). But obviously these types of projects are very expensive and complex, and require enormous scale to be cost effective.
You're right, it needs something like each gram/ounce of remaining food is worth subtracting a certain amount from the time.

I don't see how gravity storage could possibly scale. Pumped hydro was the dominant storage tech, but is severely limited in geography, so there's no easy way to scale that. Solid weight gravity systems might come online at some point, but nothing about the trajectory of their development suggests they'll leapfrog chemical batteries in overall adoption.
And the battery chemistries I'm most excited about don't involve lithium at all. Sodium batteries are starting to come online, and some metal-air systems seem to be ready to hit the market soon.
In the energy space, I'm excited about advanced geothermal (basically using the drilling/fracking techniques developed by the oil and gas industry but applying them to harvesting geothermal heat in places previously not practical). It's dispatchable energy that can fill in the difference between wind/solar supply and overall grid demand in a way that might make carbon emissions unnecessary.
I'm also excited about a bunch of rechargeable battery chemistries that might make grid scale batteries much more cost effective (and possibly safer and more reliable).
Energy policy in the US is kinda screwed up right now, but hopefully the tech can be developed/rolled out elsewhere, or the merits of the technology will still lead to rapid adoption even in a hostile regulatory climate.

I learned to be comfortable in my own skin by my late 20's. I realized that my interests and hobbies might not line up with everyone else's, but that I could prioritize my own wants and desires in a way that was both true to myself and could make my life easier.
Career wise, I bounced around with different fields and employers between about 5 cities in my adult life, before I found a role in my mid 30's that really fits my mild ADHD, where my strengths (good research and writing skills) are helpful and my weaknesses (absent mindedness, inability to sit still and focus on a single task for more than half an hour at a time) don't matter in this position.
Socially, I made lots of good friends in my 20's and 30's, and have a diversity of different types of friendships. I have a few groups of fun friends that I like doing certain activities with (one set of camping/hiking friends, another set of skiing friends, a bunch of groups of dinner party/dining out friends, a bunch of neighborhood parents for hanging out with in kid friendly places). And between some of the individual friends, some are great for emotional support when going through tough times, and I try to reciprocate when they're going through tough times, too.
My parents had church, but I'm not religious anymore, but I still try to build that level of regular in-person contact with the same people through my other recurring meetings: a designated weekly kids night at a neighborhood pizza place, a monthly happy hour with a group of friends that I work near but not with, rotating dinner parties/backyard BBQs with another core group.
And in my early 30's, I met a partner who just gets me (and vice versa), so we got married. Our quirks complement each other, and we can cover each other's weaknesses. I love parenting with her, and our household just works really well. We make each other better, and that has generally translated into building up strong foundations for relationships across both friendships and our professional networks, so that we are both in a good place socially and in our careers (which has helped our respective incomes skyrocket since we've met, so we're basically rich now).
Not everything is sunshine and rainbows, but having a good base helps getting through the tougher experiences that life inevitably throws our way.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration passed regulations in the late 70's requiring active safety features of either an airbag system or automatic seat belts by the late 80's (the legal saga of those regulations coming into effect is its own long story). Then, in 1995, airbags became mandatory, so the automatic seatbelt systems became redundant for regulatory compliance. And culturally, by 1995 people actually were choosing to wear their seatbelts, so that the automatic seatbelt systems didn't actually make as big of a difference in practice.

Boom Supersonic is a private company working on it, with an eye towards better fuel efficiency than the Concorde. They're still in the early stages, though, so who knows if they'll actually be able to finish a design, much less manufacture a working model.
And NASA has been doing some research on sonic boom characteristics, to see if a plane can be designed to fly faster than the speed of sound without causing a sonic boom.
