  • Yeah I was thinking how useful Google circa 2010 was. Back then, it felt like an LLM-level productivity boost. Then it enshittified to the point that it can barely be used for anything at all.

  • It has its uses but it feels like more of a 10-20% productivity boost when used effectively, not the 500%, “lets have openclaw replace my whole company!” kind of BS being pushed by AI companies.

  • I saw 800 boobs just last night. 800 is rookie numbers.

  • multimillion dollar

They had a gross profit last year of 3.8 billion. They don’t give a shit about this.

  • Just like with plastic waste, it isn’t random people making Gemini uwu once in a while that wastes a significant amount of water/energy. It’s the corporations submitting billions of LLM requests that’s consuming most of it.

  • It’s because this choad has only one angry inch to give

  • Talking about the property tax, not the wealth tax. And even though it’s lower than other parts of the country, a third of NYC denizens own their homes, so a property tax increase seems like it’d have a lot of collateral effects on the not-so-wealthy.

  • Honestly 3 ports is enough. And you have the separate MagSafe port too, which means all 3 are typically free. I can’t think of a good reason to have 3 devices regularly hooked up to a Mac laptop. Mouse, keyboard, external hard drive? And mouse/keyboard can be wired to each other and/or wireless?

  • The best computer is the one you have. I built a rig 3ish years ago now and found that I just don’t play the AAA games that require the cutting edge hardware often enough to justify what I spent back then (let alone today). I could have grabbed a used 10 year old machine and played all the games/run all the productivity stuff just fine with that.

  • You talked about the peripherals that should not be named, that’ll be $25 please

  • Uh doesn’t this just inflict pain on the middle class if it ends up passing?

  • Oh yes they do

  • Sure it is you uh…hold on let me sample the tail distribution for an insult…you snollygoster!

  • Short answer: rich people are dumb and spend their money on dumb shit to flex on us poors

  • I’ve never gotten an ad with premium. Been subscribed for about 5 years.

  • It definitely CAN be cheaper but seems like a good fraction of people choose to live on the high hog and dump a ton of money into their vans. Also there’s just a ton of anxiety needing to move around constantly. Where are you exactly where that’s not a worry?

  • Oddly enough ECC used to be quite common for consumer hardware…I had an old Mac desktop in the late 90s/early 00s with ECC memory. But at some point it was decided that consumers don’t want to pay the extra $ for error-free RAM and mobos largely dropped support.

Edit: reading up on it the G5 (which I had) required ECC memory
