Once you learn the 2000-ish necessary ones, kanji will actually be easier to read than kana and even the roman alphabet, because kanji are ideograms and pictograms, meaning, you won’t have to actually read it out loud in your head, you’ll just see an idea or a picture of something. It’s like reading “car” versus seeing “🚗”.

Okay, so I listened to their first two albums while going in and out of sleep. They’re like if System of a Down rewrote the Death Note soundtrack in the style of Linkin Park. XD

No. Studying it was entertaining. I remember plastering my walls at home - the whole apartment - with kanji, it’s readings and an example sentence. Every time I went by such a paper, I made it a rule to read it out loud. I also remember filling out whole notebooks with kanji. I also remember learning calligraphy, not because I wanted to learn calligraphy, but because writing kanji with a brush gives you a deeper understanding of why they are written in the way they are. Since I wasn’t living in Japan at the time, I needed a way to immerse myself. This was my way.

Used it once on a laptop whose fan had died and which I in retrospect shouldn’t have used no matter how little I tax the CPU, but, it worked. antiX at least let me boot up, save my data and then discard the laptop.

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing your insights and experiences! :D In my country, while on the surface both authorities and healthcare try to sound gender affirmative and supportive, the process is extremely long.

1. My primary physician has to deem it necessary for my well-being that I undergo an evaluation on whether I have gender dysphoria or not.
2. If they deem it so, they will send me to a special clinic that evaluates me. The waiting period to even begin evaluation can be as long as up to five years. This is but one of the reasons why a close friend of mine moved permanently to the States. They are so brave and I’m so proud of them. 😭❤️
3. If the clinic after a one year evaluation concludes that I indeed have gender dysphoria, then I can ask for HRT.

I am not arguing against you in any way. I am endlessly grateful for your advice, and I do take it to heart. <3 Just wanted to share info on what kind of society I live in. And I also don’t in any way mean to diminish how “good” I have it in comparison to places where you risk alienation, harassment or even murder if you even mention the idea of trans and/or non-binary.
