Politics 101. Accuse the opposition with the stuff you're doing.
Hungary is low-hanging fruit in this example, but that's where I was when I started paying attention to politics. Anytime the government said something about 'the enemy', it was a safe bet to assume Orbán & co were the perpetrators.
I'm not sure if I am critical or cynical, but it sure seems to me that the medicine industry embraces productivity-related treatments, than actual mental health.
Last I heard of any MDMA related treatments was the MAPS project, ehich got gobbled up by big pharma.
I think going fedi (and open source) is like hitting rock bottom/finding jesus/starting therapy. All we can do is try and remove the stigma.
Yeah, all the doomerism is pulling me down, too. My best solution so far is to not interact. Not even a downvote. Contrarianism and acute cynisism need feedback to thrive, and the bastards ain't getting any more of my blood!
While central Europe and the Balkans still clearly have Russia's hooks in 'em, most of the population is firmly for the EU (i.e. the West). This couldn't have happened if Russian soft power did not suffer horrendously at the split of the USSR.
This is so good that I got bothered that there was no source. I found a comic from over ten years ago, with the same theme, but more simpler graphics. It turned out Jake Likes Onions did an updated version of their original comic in 2019 and didn't add their watermark for some reason.
While I fully agree with you, I don't really fret the masses being manipulated. It's shitty and scary, but time immemorial we've been sewing these threads among each other. In a pretty recent post someone outlined that any time there is a new form of communication, we get a pretty big wave of manipulation (printing press --> reforming the catholic church / broadcast TV --> 2. World War). We got this current batch of Brexiteers and Trumpists because the internet makes for amazing echochambers. This will just be an escalation of that (yeah, not as reassuring as I'd hoped it would be).
I'm more worried about me being (mis-)led by my nose. I think I'm losing my edge.
Yeah, my sloppy-sense was through the roof, too. The best I can relay what is putting me off, is the 'discreetness' of it. Almost like every pixel was specifically painted. Lighting and focus are also super weird.
But yeah, I think we're getting past the point where I can tell.
And the needle was
