  • I sold a washing machine second hand and the guy with a ute (pickup-truck) that came to get it spent ages securing the load in the centre of the bed so that it wouldn't rub on the expensive rub bars. This guy was so fucking fragile about his ute I was amazed. I've known blokes to buy a new ute and basically had the attitude of the tray is for working, if you damage the cab I'll be pissed. They've also had a simple metal tray, not some painted complicated thing without decent tie down points.

  • The BYD Dolphin in Australia for $32k AUD is pretty attractive for an entry level model too. The Toyota Camry Ascent hybrid is $45k AUD. I kind of prefer a hybrid as petrol is still everywhere, but that cheap Dolphin will suit many people.

  • I find the whole screen shot of a catchy sentence from twatter as a post with a clickbait headline pretty frustrating too. The title of the post could easily be the content as plain text. How much are a few billion meme reposts of screenshots of text costing the planet? How much data is wasted sending pictures of plain text around the world?

  • In Australia I went through a process called homing the meter where the gas company comes out and digs a hole in the nature strip (verge) in front of the house and turns off the lever connecting my house to the gas main line. They were going to try a simple capping of the pipes where the meter was removed but the pipes were old and leaky (soap test) so they needed to dig up the switch.

  • It's not popular in Australia. We mostly still use traditional sms/text. My friends in .uk and .nl complain that I don't have whatsapp but I retort with complaints that they don't use signal.
