That's good to hear, because back then that wasn't the case. I know no matter what model iPhone I get, if it's new then support is the same for every model from that year.
Have you seen how old most bikers in the US are? The stigma that most bikers are in a gang is stupid but there are SOME bikers who are seniors and who are in something like Hell's Angels.
Also, I've seen TV shows where they depict the grandmother as a sweet innocent lady who was actually the drug runner for the gang. It's plausible.
That being said, there needs to be....I don't know....actual evidence that she's a part of said gang to justify this insanity.
The only good thing about most Android phones is that you can install a different version of Android devoid of all things Google and get an interface that isn't Samsung. That's my plan when this subscription crap comes around or the phones are too expensive that I can't afford them anymore. I'm too tied into Apple's ecosystem with mail, iCloud, and Music.
Also, buy some other brand that's cheaper because Samsung makes garbage and don't support their hardware unless they're flagship. Admittedly, it's been almost a decade since I've had anything but an iPhone, but I had a couple Samsung Android phones were an update broke the phone and Samsung wouldn't release a fix because it was an update from Google. One in particular was a Samsung Moment on Sprint where it would enter into airplane mode silently and still look like it was connected to services until you went to use said services. They refused to provide an update to resolve the issue.
We're coming in close to the 60-90 days that experts were predicting would be the collapse of SSA last month. Unless something drastic happens, I don't have any hope this will get turned around any time soon. I'm on disability and I'm terrified.
I’m torn on this because I love that blue states are standing up for DEI. But, like, kids are already suffering enough especially in Rochester which already is ranked one of the worst school districts in the country based on test scores and graduation rates. The teens are already out of control on crime sprees ands joy rides (some young as 11 and 12)here thanks to these kids having nothing better to do than get into gangs due to peer pressure.
If NY state has a backup plan to at least maintain funding levels for schools once federal funding gets cut I’d feel better about this. Spoiler alert: they don’t. They’re also forcing all school districts in the state to switch to electric buses amidst all this new crap going on.
The only people who will suffer from this decision are the students and the communities that will have to put up with even more crime sprees and joy rides. But I guess in war, causalities will happen whether we like it or not.
In my experience I was in the middle of a transition at work. A company was buying the contract of all the other contract companies and the way they did it was shady as hell. We had to sign new contract agreements and had I not signed the agreement I most likely wouldn’t have been able to file unemployment and finding a job would have been impossible.
I stayed in that job way too long because of fear and the devil you know vs the devil you don’t. I worked at that job and company for almost 10 more years because I liked my immediate boss but despised the bullshit the company was doing. It was not good for my mental health.
Had 2008 not happened, there was no way I was signing that new contract. Many people didn’t and struggled for a bit finding new jobs. My mental health most likely would have been better. But hindsight is 20/20
Ok, so 2008 was a 52% loss in almost a year and a half.
Right now it's only a 16% loss in a little over 2 months.
Someone far smarter than I am could maybe figure out the monthly decline percentage and compare 2008 losses vs now. Don't get me wrong, it's a shitload of money, but it doesn't look like the stock market is anywhere close to reaching 2008 levels of loss.....yet.
This is going to be an even more interesting time in the coming weeks. When animals are cornered, things get very ugly. And we're beyond ugly already with almost half of Project 2025 implemented already.
Forget about a recession, the U.S. is headed directly towards a possible depression and bringing Canada down with it if those numbers are even remotely true. That's almost 1-2 months salary wiped out for 1/3 of households in the US when most of those people are living paycheck to paycheck.
Sorry, it was me. I’ve been F5ing the hell out of their website because my payment date keeps changing. I technically should have seen my monthly disability check deposited today…surprise, it’s not there yet 🤨🫠🤬
No "average" person is aware because they are too busy trying to just survive. Nobody wants to chance losing what they've worked so hard for. The only people who watch the news are seniors and disabled people, and they're being misled if they just watch TV news.
People who call themselves Republicans are happy with what's going on. People who call themselves Democrat are not happy but think they need to work within the system to solve the issues and wait until the next election. Libertarians have sided with the Republicans. Socialism is still a taboo way of thinking for the most part here.
Then you have disabled people (like me) who are watching what is happening in horror and have sky high anxiety wondering if they're next to be disappeared or homeless. I can stand for maybe 30 minutes at most, holding a sign maybe 15 minutes at most. So I'm doing what I can and that is trying to live as if things are "normal" to continue on my mental health recovery and sobriety journey at the same time being horrified and terrified of what's to come. It's a weird duality that I don't like. I told my therapist the other day that I have hope for the future for my recovery but I have lost all hope in what is going on politically and in the news.
A lot of this I also blame on false American beliefs fed to us in school that we were safe from all of this nonsense because of our constitution. The American Dream and all that B.S. They sugar-coat our history as a country in schools -- at least they did when I went to school in the 80's/90's, I don't know about now. It's as if America only has a rosy history, even the Civil War is glorified in false narratives.
It's easy to see how we got to this point as a country. The question is, how do we get ourselves out of it?
“They claim that the court is powerless to order any relief,’’ Sandoval-Moshenberg told me. “If that’s true, the immigration laws are meaningless—all of them—because the government can deport whoever they want, wherever they want, whenever they want, and no court can do anything about it once it’s done.”
And I stopped reading after that. So what ‘protected” class will the first legal citizen who isn’t an immigrant to be disappeared be from?
That's good to hear, because back then that wasn't the case. I know no matter what model iPhone I get, if it's new then support is the same for every model from that year.
