  • It looks like (at least here in the U.S.) that this is the only model that allows selection of the OS. I looked at cheaper models of different product lines by them and they all include Windows 11.

  • Ouch. And here I thought I was terrified because I'm on SSDI. I hope you get to escape from this idiocy.

    As for me, I'm trying to enjoy my life to the fullest that I can in my current situation and biding my time until I get disappeared. I don't have the financial means to even attempt to get to another country, and none of them would want a "parasite" like me anyways.

    I went and saw the new movie with Porky Pig and Daffy Duck: The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie and it was pretty darn good.

    And listen, I know now isn't really a good time to watch a movie and get distracted, but it did a pretty good job of distracting me and made my mental health a tiny bit better not having to think about what we're going through and will be going through.

    Well, I'll rephrase that: I don't think I have that long being on SSDI, Medicaid, and in HUD housing. I have no doubt I'll be disappeared as a "parasite" long before the collapse. I do have a cane and I'm not afraid to use it for what it wasn't intended for so I won't go down without a fight.

    But given the fact that nearly half of Project 2025 has been implanted in a little less than 4 months it might happen at the end of summer -- especially if the debt ceiling doesn't get raised.

  • because some people will have to pick up where Social Security left and care for them and, in doing so, will become even more desperate. Who will risk their job fighting for their rights knowing that not only their own livelihood, but also that of their old mother or their disabled brother is on the line?

    This is true for those who have support locally. I don't have anyone I can rely on locally right now if this starts happening to the DML. There is no other safety net for me. The safety net I do have was already riddled with holes and partially on fire BEFORE Jan 20th.

    Also, this hasn't even started happening and already people are struggling paycheck to paycheck and won't risk it by protesting -- at least not to the point where we can get sustainable numbers over weeks in all 50 states.

  • And there it is. Combine this "accident" with the Death Master List and you have a recipe for "accidentally" ruining people's lives who are retired or disabled. We know how this administration handles mistakes now as well.

    What does a person who is declared dead but indeed still alive do when this happens and they lose income, housing, and medical insurance? Asking for a very terrified friend.....

  • Transgender people have that exact problem right now, even with passports. They effectively cannot prove they are a citizen even with a birth certificate because of Trump's executive orders.

    I only have an enhanced NY state driver's license. I don't have Real ID or even a passport. While I'm male and identify as male, I don't have my birth certificate. If they require something like Real ID, passport, or birth certificate the likelihood of me voting pretty much becomes nil. I don't drive, rely on public transportation, and would have to go to a county office and hope I can give them the right information to get a copy of my birth certificate.
