  • I agree, pretty shit to use people who are under incredible suffering as a joke prop :|

  • Same way a single benevolent godlike dictator could be incredibly efficient and good thing but completely unrealistic and would never happen and whenever we attempt this we get millions of people killed and set humanity back by decades. It would be such an easy fix though - we all low key want it.

Some strategies simply don't work due to lack of self correcting and self correcting a few keys that control the world is very hard. This is exactly what's happening today - social media gave us the power to express the need for self correcting some aspects of our society and people holding the keys have decided to not allow this. Yet again leading to conflicts that have millions of people killed and set us back by decades.

  • Exactly what I meant - each billionaire is our collective investment. We invest 99% of our wealth into a few billionaire projects which might trickle down to other smaller projects but trickle down is mostly a myth we can't accurately represent and control with our current tooling.

  • The corporations - duuuh.

Everyone knows that corporations are only interested in increasing quarter to quarter revenue to satisfy share holders so they will happily stop doing all that and instead - take a hit and start decade long r&d and reinvent their production locally to avoid raising prices.

/s in case it was not obvious.

  • Yeah yeah "both sides are the same" yada yada - keep doing nothing in your eternal defeatism and preferably keep to yourself rather than spread this disease.

  • So tired of this tbh - I just don't understand how anyone thinks wealth consolidation to few could be a good thing.

Even if you ignore ethics and assume the billionaires are benevolent - it's just a bad investment to invest majority of resources to a small number of investments. Does any successful large project hold 99% of their investments in few projects? It's absurd.

It makes absolutely zero sense no matter how you look at it unless you're truly full in on delusion that benevolent dictators exist and are impossible to corrupt or overtake.

  • Justice intervention? The country is being run by a magic holy priest that says protesters are enemy if the god and deserve death sentence. You have to be functionally brain dead or evil to side with that.

  • You know that they're just salivating over possible reality of doing this themselves. These people have no ethics or morals.

  • Funny how all of China bots are silent on China's support of Iran whenever news like this breaks.

  • Powered by China and Russia btw

  • I feel majority of americans are in some sort of collective self destructive delusion. Thats the only way you can explain trump presidency - people didn't vote for him, they voted for self harm because they're sick.

  • This dude's entire persona is to rage bait conservative talk points

  • Maybe you need a doctor?

  • Nah american people have all tbe power to do so as is

  • pascals wager is incredibly stupid and illogical. What about other 10 billion religions? What if accepting jesus now puts you down with 9,999,999,999 other religions?

  • I used to do hiring and it has been a solved problem for at least half a century now through trial periods.

I really don't understand these multi-round interviews - what can you possible learn from them? It's 2 short interviews -> 2-4 week well paid contract -> employment or not. Works every single time unless you are so disorganized that you simply can't implement this then lack of talen is really the least of your worries.

  • Totally and it's a great illustration how diversification is crucial for any organized system. If we started to diversify earlier we not only would have more economic power now but avoided thounsands of conflicts as well.

Though a bit of optimisim here - seems like we learned this lesson and most countries are taking energy hedging very seriously these days. I don't think we'll ever have a new resource like oil again.

  • ok looking into this more they just liked revolutionary movement and anti-capitalist and anti-imperialism agenda which is basically cherry picking the "duuuh" parts out of generally awfuly evil ideology.

  • I'd agree but oil is absolutely next level to all of that. Entire countries are basically held hostage by energy supply which was never the case before. You could cut off trade and that's the worst thing you could do but now you can fundamentally disable the entire country as oil is so fundamental to everything.

Oil was such a massive security mistake that we're still collectively recovering from it.
